Fixing Iron Heads

My uncle has a set of ported heads from a 440 that need to be fixed. Not sure if it's worth it to repair them. Who is able to weld iron heads? Any help is appreciated. If it's too much I think he's just going to go w/ some new alum. heads. Thanks in advance. I'll try to post up some pics of the damage soon.

Thompson Automotive did some Windsor SR's I had. Cost $175 to fix. They are located in Redford.
 
Ported 60's and 70's iron big block heads are really crack prone. I would say pass and get a set of edelbrocks or bulldogs etc the list goes on. Far more economical invesetment if the head ends up cracking and alot of them do.I have 2 junk sets of unported 906's in my garage that are cracked.

Yeah I think I may just tell him to go that route. Especially since the cracked where the rocker shaft botls down. I think they're fubar'd. Too bad, since I bet the car would've ran damn good with them on there.
 
Dump the 906s and get the Bull Dog heads.I went with Max Wedge ports and Ive been happy with these heads.Every thing fit rockers,shafts, headers.You will need new ARP bolts.Check your ports before you leave Whatever shop you buy from.

About how much do they run? It's a pretty mild 440 right now, I know he wants to keep it a street car.
