Motown's uber nerd and fav Sweeeeede!
...I was having breakfast at the Big Boy restaurant in Jackson while my truck was getting new tires at discount tire, listening to the radio about the planes hitting the towers. Anyone else still remember the exact time you first heard about it?

I was at the US treasury having my truck unloaded when a special report came on.Then pentagon was hit which was easily in site. Then all hell broke loose as fedral buildings started to evacuate. Guys in black suite's swarmed as if they had been beamed in from nowhere and my truck was closed locked and i was driven off the property jammed on a bus and sent back to my home terminal. I frantically tried to contact a family meber working at the pentagon only to get a busy signal on my cell phone. My aunt was ok but was in the adjacent wing. The pentagon is a well built building.Had it not been such a well built structure or a regular style building my aunt would no longer bee with us today.Yeah i don't think I'll ever forget that day.

I was leaving my calc. class, and as i'm walking to my car. I hear people talking about it. They're like "They hit strategic spots" and "They flew into the buildings" I had no clue. I called my boy up to grab breakfast, and I remember it vividly, he's like "Dude are you watching TV? We're under attack!!"

I'll never forget, that was a very dark day, I went to ground zero a couple years afterwards, I was in tears. Unexplainable how many lost their lives..

RIP

Words can't describe the courage the fire fighters and police and rescue people had to rush into the towers to help people out!!!

I was in study hall when a teacher turned on a TV because he read about it on the internet..

Yep was working when I heard it on the radio. My wife was supposed to fly into New York on a business trip around noon. Couldn't believe what I saw on TV later that day. RIP to all those who lost their lives. I'll never forget that day.

I was at work in Lima, Ohio. I was freaking out since it is I think the largest oil refinery or something along those lines in the U.S. I figured I was a dead man since we were all of 2 miles from it. Needless to say I was stressed out beyond imagination.

I was at work and one of the designers stood up and said, somebody just flew a plane into the WTC!! We turned on the TV in the cafeteria and watched as the second plane hit later, and then the collapse. Work released us to go home which was good as my wife was upset because my father-in-law was in washington and we heard about the pentagon and did not know where he was.

I also had a cousin scheduled for an interview near the twin towers. For some reason he woke up late and did not make it down there to that area. Thank god for small miracles.

I was at work... after the second plane hit the tower, we were under lock down.

I read about the first plane on the internet, turned on te TV and watched the 2nd plane hit, then watched the towers collapsed.

Here we are 5 years later and my sister works at the Pentagon and a very good friend of mine is a Federal Air Marshall (Talked to him this morning).

First I just want to say may all the victims RIP, and their families the best of luck. Second, I want to say thank you to all of the people over there fighting the war, and people here that are fighting it. I want to say thanks to everyone that still will fly an American Flag proudly. It was such a tragic event, and I will NEVER forget it.

I had just gotten out of morning swim practice, and was headed to my second class of the day (junior year of hs). As I got into my second class, I saw the look on peoples faces, and turned towards the tv. A few short moments later, I saw the second plane hit, and instantly new what was going on. My eyes watered up really bad, and I went and sat by my girlfriend of the time, and just held on to her. We didn't do any schoolwork that day. We sat, watched the news programs, and talked to each other. Nobody argued, and everyone sat as one group....Americans.

I was home sick from school, and woke up to the tv on showing the second plane hitting, very sad day. My thoughts still go out to all those the helped to save many peoples lives.

I had a 10AM Psychology class. I remember as soon as class started the Prof. told everyone "a plane has hit the WTC". He said anyone with family there or in that area to leave and be with their families. He held class for about twenty minutes as we discussed the mentality of people who do things like that. We left around 10:30 and the school canceled the rest of classes for the day at noon. A week before this happened a suicidal teenager from Florida flew a Cessna into a building in Tampa and it pretty much bounced off the side and he feel to his death...but it was just him that died. Because of that I had the same plane stuck in my head and didn't understand the sevarity of what had happened at the WTC yet. I left school and headed to work and saw everyone standing around the TV and that's when it hit me. I stood in front of the TV for the rest of the day.

I just got back to work form the bank and was listening to Imus on the radio, he was on the phone with someone on the street of Manhattan. The person was like something just hit the WTC I think it was a small plane.

I listened off and on all day getting update from my customers, business slowed like it was a holiday. By early afternoon there were fighter jets circling the sky (I was just outside Boston) When I finally got out of work I was heading home only to get a call from a friend that had broken down I went to help him. I didn't get home till about 7 PM and that was the first time I saw it on TV I just sank into my seat and a tear rolled down my cheek.....as bad as I heard it was I had no idea and struggled all day to accept it.

The next morning I walked out of my house to go to work and the skies were silent. I looked over my shoulder to notice a small plane heading toward me, I stood and watched with amazement as a fighter jet buzzed by my house. That's when I finally realize that we are at war and it is now on our turf.

i was inbetween cpc and high school, just turned out of 7 11 at 13 mile and hoover , i heard it at the red light. right there i was in total shock..

I was just getting out of band rehearsal at school up north (yes i was a band geek, haha very funny) where we had been learning an arangement of a hymn.... got back to my dorm building and my house mother told me to go watch the TV. everybody else was there and i was just in time to see the 2nd plane hit. all classes and rehearsals were canceled for the day, all the students and teachers met in the gym/bleachers (not a large school) and talked about it. i remember there was some girl i didn't know sitting there in some guy's arm just bawling her eyes out.... a very hard day for so many people. all i can be is thankful that i have no relatives in new york =(

Exact same thing. I kept thinking it was a small plane or there was somethign other than the obvious that was going on that made it such a big deal and I just blew it off. When I finally saw what was going on on CNN I was in total shock. My first reation was to be pissed at myself for not thinking it was something as serious as it was. Then as I watched the towers come down it turned to pure rage for the most part. I was so pissed that someone could do that. Bush gave a speech that night or maybe the next that I thought was awesome. Something about how whoever did it tried tearing our country apart and all it did was make us standing together and stronger. People of NYC were policing their own city (for the most part) and everyone for that day or two stood together dispite all other differences.

I was living out in california, the first plane hit as i was getting up for work and my wife's family called to tell her about it.....i was driving to a job when the second plane hit, and the news anchors were fumbling over themselves trying to make sense of it.....at the job site some guys were talking about it kind of casually(knowbody knew the extent)....then my wife called and asked that i come back home because she was pretty freaked out, so i did...really at that point we didn't know if it was going to be a national attack or what......a completely surreal day.......

I wish it were still like that. I am proud to be an American, but was more proud those days when I saw American Flags everywhere I looked. I remember stores not being able to keep them in stock. Still have our American Flag flying here though.

Same thing happened out here in Ann Arbor. Some clown took off from grass runway in Saline. He was in the sky for about 20 mins.

Two jets came over the dealership on full afterburner. It shook the entire building. They looked like they were about 100' off the ground. They circled him for about 5 mins forcing him to land. It was pretty crazy.

There was also an AWACS jet in the area later that day.

Those next couple days were pretty strange.

I spent the night before partying pretty hard with a friend of mine that was flying to Florida that day. I didn't get to bed until about 7:30am. I woke up at about 5:45pm and was running late to band practice. I threw on some clothes and headed out the door. Listened to my CD player the whole way there (20-25 minute drive). I was SHOCKED to see that gas was $4+/gal and EVERYONE was getting it (i drove an Aspire and it was full). When i got there NO ONE was outside in the whole neighborhood (and in that neighborhood of detroit, that was odd). I get to the house and two of my friends are on the porch, one with a shotgun. I ask what had happened and they looked at me like I was an alien. They told me to go watch the TV and I was floored. It took about an hour for me to believe what I was seeing. Surreal doesn't even describe what I was watching.
