fitness people- who is still making progress?

Today I looked in the mirror and realized, I could stand to lose a few pounds.
I'm going to make my goal weight 200 lbs. To start, I'm cutting out having the dog fetch my drinks... time to start getting up and walking to the fridge... well.... at least every other time.

Get off your ass FATTY

Was 6'3'' and 215 with no muscle 2 years ago. Cut down to 175 a year ago now bulked up to ~198. Go to the gym 3,4 times a week, the hardest part is starting. Once you start seeing results the rest takes care of itself.

Just knocked out just under 7 miles in 30 mins on the mountain bike. It was the first thing I did when I got up today. Brushed the teeth, threw on some shorts and a sweatshirt, grabbed the stop watch, and headed out. I'm going to try and make a habit of this every morning (weather permitting) from here on out.

:badass: What kind of bike?

Ummm, I don't know. I think it's a Motiv 'Smoothie', Dark Green, aluminum, Shimano 21-speed, Shock forks, blah blah blah. Nothing worth talking about.

I want to get some knobby tires for it. It has street tires on it right now. For whatever reason, the paved surface tires on there make me nervous. I never get around to picking up different tires or a different seat for it. That seat is not comfy for the riding I plan on doing with it. The majority if the riding I will be doing is sit down and peddle 100% of the time riding for cardio purposes only.

I have some knobby tires laying around but they are probably more than you want. They are VERY aggressive. So much so that I took them off because it was difficult to ride on pavement.

I'd keep street tires on it for pavement. Knobby on pavement SUCKS. You gotta get the old school springer seat. Rides like a Caddy!

Hmmm, maybe I'll pass then. Thanks for the offer.

Maybe you're right. I have been riding this bike on and off for a year or two with no problems with the tires on there. They only make me nervous because all the bikes I have ever owned have had more aggressive tread on them than these. Even the 20" freestyle bikes I've owned had way more tread on them then these tires. Wife and daughter are going to 2 little kids' BDay parties today. Maybe I'll head off to a place that sell bike stuff and grab a more comfy seat.

Big seat = bad

You want a hard seat, not a big soft one. Point that thing down! It shouldn't be pointed up like that. Get some biking shorts with padding, and wear them under your shorts or pants. You will be much more comfortable. And unless you're 5'-6", raise the seat!

Don't go with knobbies unless you want to slow way down. Air those puppies up and go.

Well I just went and picked up a nice BELL seat with gel inserts (Bell GelTech) seat, threw it on, and I love it! I'm just under 5'11". BTW, why is a big seat bad? Seems pretty nice. :D

Well, I was bored so I just banged out another 6+ miles in less than 28 minutes. My ass begs to differ with your opinion on the nice larger comfy seats being bad. I never once stopped peddling during this last trip and I never had the urge to stand up because my ass was hurting from the previous uncomfortable seat. I love this new seat!

However, raising the seat and tipping it forward may have helped a bit with the ergonomics.

Addition of the rain-proof stopwatch on the handlebar neck (veclroed & tied with stopwatch lanyard) and the comfier seat = Better...

Now if I could only find my damn Bell water bottle that my daughter lost...

I need to get a new bike. I bought a cheapo $100 bike about 8 years ago, and I have ridden it ALOT.

I was at the Roseville Dunhams today picking up some compression shirts (need them for the surgery healing process) and they have some cool looking bikes on sale for what I think are good prices...though I'm no bike price expert. I kinda liked this one suspension frame and suspension fork Mongoose mountain bike they had. I wanna say it was in the low $200.00 range...maybe even high $100.00 range...I forget. There were a few up front that I looked at briefly as I was being rung up. This MIGHT have been it. http://www.dunhamssports.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2598048&cp=1160099
