first NA hemi ram 2wd QC in the 12s w/ oem heads & short block

Cool I guess. I just don't care for street cars/trucks that are stripped down at the track.

"alright, we got rid of all the seats, the wiper arms, the spare tire, the carpet, the owners manual, all of the screw on knobs, the radio, the airbags and the gas cap. I think that should help"

I agree. Last year at MMM we were looking at a Duramax that we were told was the fastest stock turbo Duramax out there.
2.5-3 hours later I saw why. The whole fucking truck was in the pits. Leather seats and all.
Who gives a fuck! Is that a legit request if you pulled up next to him on the street to run him? Would you have to wait 3 hours to run him at the light cause he'd have to take all that shit out?
Fuck that, I leave my golf clubs in my shit when I run!

I agree. I have a chevy so no matter where I'm at theres always quarts of every fluid and zip ties in the hatch. :gr_jest:

Holy string of qualifiers in the title. That bothers me more than stirpping something out, a string of 12 qualifiers to make yourself the first at something.

Was it a blue crew cab by chance?

That truck is pretty fast with everything in it, but I think he was desperate to hit 11.99 (if it was the guy I'm thinking of). He has had that thing in the 12.2 area forever, and was getting frustrated.

I do agree with the opinion that even if you run a great time in your daily driver, its not as impressive if you have to strip the whole vehicle to make it happen. I thought about pulling some weight out of mine, but I'm happy with 12's like I drive it to work, as opposed to a high 11 with half the truck missing.

exactly, where does it end?

If I take the motor out of a stock Duramax and strap it to a dune buggy and run 9s, does that me the fastest stock duramax out there?

it reminds me of that old import magazine that did the article on how fast they could make a stock nissan sentra. they got it into the 12s by basically cutting it apart. by the end it was a bare shell with the roof cut off

I have the fastest worn out ball bearings in the world. :gr_jest:

I have the fastest 08 slate metallic cobalt LS sedan with 35% tint, stock tires with Meguiar's tire shine on them, Benelli sticker, gray interior with black floor mats, and an Alice in Chains CD in the cd player. Can't forget the Cinnamon and Sugar car jar, either.

WIN.

Seriously though, that's a quick QC truck.

He was running 12.3-12.4's IIRC that day, even with everything stripped out. He also had some funky L shaped exhaust tip. I don't know what that was about. It came straight up the side of the truck.

Yeah, that was Tom. Super cool guy driving himself crazy to go as fast as he could with a tuning-only motor. While the business of stripping the vehicle seems silly to me, I will give him credit for not giving up on his goal. Usually it takes a turbo and a little magic to get that deep into the 12's with these trucks.
The exhaust tip is required by most sled pulling associations if you're not running a stack, so a lot of guys started running them at the strip to keep the soot off the starting guys and to keep from messing with the lights....seems to make the track officials happier.

Sorry for getting off topic.

I can show you a crew cab 4 wheel drive 2004 duramax with stock turbo going 12.00's and driving it all over the country. Stock injectors also. Plus, the full interior is left in including the lunch box/cooler. lol

That truck moves out for what it is. I do agree the self classing has gotten rediculous over the years with the whole cam only, stock this stock that records. Thats why drag racing has lost appeal to me. Everyone is trying to classify what they have when in the end we're all just racing to see who's the fastest and there's always someone with more money thats faster anyways. The true organized car classes like 10.5 tire stuff is still fun to watch because there are basic guidelines.
