Firewood....

I have a dead tree in my yard you are welcome to cut down (I will even help plus provide refreshments and a pickup to move it). I think it is a Beech tree, but don't quote me on that. It just up and died a couple months ago. Gotta take it down before winter. PM me and I will send you my address if you want to come check it out. I will take care of all the scrap too if you just want the thick parts.

Needs to be cut up and dried out for about a year before anyone with common sense will want it. Other wise it smokes more than dice clay during a stand up show.

Only on Motown do people bitch about free stuff. That is why I offered he could look at it. It has been dead six months standing in the sun every day. My assumption would be that it dries faster than in a pile behind your garage, but I am not a wood expert.

A full cord is double that but if it's a full cord, I'll take the rest up north. My wood rack is 10'L x 5'H and 15" wide so it'll hold a little over a face cord

Michigan folks very seldom talk in full cords, when someone around here says a "cord" 9.9 times out of 10 they're talking about a face cord. Three "face" cords equal one real cord. A cord is 4'x4'x8' a "face" cord is typically the "face" of a cord so that's "usually" 4'x8'x16".(the 16" length varies) When I tell people I have 16 cords they usually don't think much about it until I tell them it's about 48 face cords. My neighbors think I sell the stuff but I've only sold a few here and there when I get over 20 stacked up. I try to keep 4 years worth on hand. :shake:

It will season very little standing, the top limb wood will season some but the trunk wood will not do much for a good amount of time. Wood seasons best once it's stacked and split. Even stacked in log form it seasons very slowly. If it's a beech tree it should have bark that is smooth like an elephants skin and toothed leaves that are somewhat oval(of course the leaves are gone if it's dead). Beech is some of the good stuff!
