Finally!

I bought an 85GT rolling chassis from a member about two years ago. Been chipping away at it when time allowed. Happy to say I finally heard it run for the first time this afternoon. Still needs finishing but at least I have a 5.0 idling in my driveway again.

Time for a couple updates. First off my knee surgery went well and my recovery is going good. I'm scheduled to return to work on July 15th and at the rate I'm going I think that won't be a problem. Secondly, I messed with the car just a bit today. I pulled the upper intake off so I could remove the injector harness. I stripped all the factory covering off the harness. I took care of a few small issues and taped it back up. I put it back on the car and reassembled everything so all is good there. It was one of those things that was nagging at me so I had to clean it up. Since we've decided to keep the car I figured I would go the extra mile on a few things and this was one of them.

Did a little more work today. Took care of a couple loose ends on the main EFI harness. Soldered up a couple connections that I had splices on. The splices were just some quick connections I threw together to get the car running for now. I wanted to make sure it would at least start and that there weren't any leaks, etc. With everything looking good I went ahead and soldered/ shrink wrapped them to make them permanent connections.

Been real busy the last two days. Doing some odds/ ends in the wiring dept. so I can start putting the interior back together for good. All of the wiring has been completed at the rear of the car. I just need to get an inertia switch and install that so I can put the last trim piece on in the hatch area. I also ran new wires for the rear speakers too. I went through all my extra wiring harnesses and made a new harness for the fuel pump relay circuit and the O2 sensor power circuit as well. I also made up a board with some relays on it for some of the EFI stuff. That is now installed and working great. I'm hoping to have the dash in permanently by friday. After that I'll determine the final length for the EFI harness and complete the connections for that. After that I'll wire the dash itself which hopefully shouldnt take long. Another issue I had which took some time to figure out was that the fuel pump was staying on as soon as you turn the key to the forward accessory position. Instead of cycling for a couple seconds and then shutting off. After going through the wiring multiple times double checking everything I was able to determine that it was a computer problem. Luckily, I replaced the computer with a spare I had laying around and it solved that issue. There are still some things to be done but I have made great progress on the car recently.

PICS in your project thread or it never happened, and you're spending all your "rehab time" sitting 'round watching nasty crap on cable and eating Cheetos.

LOL! I would post some pictures but it's just boring stuff that I'm doing right now. When it's closer to being finished I'll put up some pics.

When you're making progress, it's never boring. A majority of my car went back together stock. But every "click" of a connector was a teeny victory.
