FAST XFI & BIG STUFF 3 EFI Systems?

I think i've seen some guys here say they run either of these stand alone EFI systems on their race cars. I'm interested in getting the FAST XFI for my 2.3 turbo car, with plans down the road to run an LSX or another SBF. This will be solely a street car, maybe 100+ miles per day.

How would you rate reliabilty for these stand alones?

Are they speed density, or mass air systems?

. . . Most importantly, who is the local tuner - where can I purchase either kit. I find them online, but if there is a local shop to visit, i'd rather go that route.

Thanks for the help

I'll give you a call this week. Here's my rationale, starting from scratch, and about to lay the chassis wiring down. I knew I would have to repin the ECU, add a wideband, etc. if I retained the stock harness. It just makes sense to convert at this point.

Thanks guys

Depending on the car this might be a good idea. Might be better to build a new engine harness and we do offer those services.

I will be out for a good portion of the day tommorow but I will be in the office everday after that.

If you are starting from scratch, and also going with a 2.3T....Then, I've run an Accel DFI on my 2.3T car for about 4 yrs before the car fell apart. I've got the modified harness, ECU, and very good/functional calibration.
Let me know if you have any questions, it took a bit to get everything going since I built my own harness, and had to go where no one had gone before, at least that I could find.
I'd say these systems, including the Accel are very reliable, more reliable then the car I had it installed on. It was my DD though like I mentioned, I probably put 80k on it during that time.
Speed Density BTW...

Awesome, thanks for chiming in. Is your Accel system ready to run, are you selling it?

Thanks again!

with a fast stand alone how safe is it to tune the car with a good street tune (safe afr 10.5-11.0) for a turbo car then drive the car from here to flordia beating on it along the way. How will the car run in the mountains, then in the heat and ect?

Just like with a factory PCM. the tune up may change a wee bit in the higher elevations but overall it should be ok. I know I have seen Dpmcghee drive from canton to waterford to woodward, and wherever else makes some hits beat the crap out of it and drive home and do it again the next day. He has an AEM and the other systems as far as I know are continous duty should they should all be just fine.

I've used Big Stuff 3 on all my own cars and we put it on LT1PATs car as well. You can't beat the price, options, and tech support and most of the top tuner's use it on a daily basis so help is never far away. Don Bailey helped with my last car and will be helping with my new one as well. I believe LT1PAT is having Moran tune his but Moran is a wizard with Big Stuff as well (uses it on his own 6.0 second turbo pro mod car). Internal datalogging, traction control, 2- and 3-steps, outputs to racepak dash and etc are all options for the Big Stuff and it's usually cheaper apples to apples than the other systems.

I will have lidio do the base tune, then learn as I go on tweaking it for the part throttle and cruise stuff. I just want to know if it would be as safe as say a stock a9l computer with chip and sct meter. Of course they both have to have proper tunes loaded.

As long as the install is of good quality then it will be as reliable as a stock PCM. I haven't seen any fialures of the systems of any manufacturer with proper instillation.
