F150 5.0 and 3.5 4x4 actual city, combined, hwy mpg?

My 2013 extended cab fx4 ecoboost is sitting at 16.7 avg with about 3000 miles after reset on the instant display I have got 20hwy doing 60mph

Another thing to consider, if you have the "highway" gear (numerically lower number) you will get better economy (especially on the EB because it will keep the RPMs lower) but in the city the engine has to work harder to move the truck from a stand still.

I think trunk pretty much summed it up tho, the EB will tow anything the rear suspension can handle and the 5.0 can do a moderate amount of that but i think the 5.0 is a better choice if you arent always pulling a trailer. I don know that some EB guys who attempt to pull a 5000 pound trailer at 85 MPH bitch about 8-9 MPGs lol.

As far as getting the sticker MPGs, welllllll when is the last time that any Ford got advertised economy lol

2013 FX4 Crew Cab 5.0 w/3.55 gears getting 15.3 combined with 13,800 miles on it. Mind you, I have a very heavy foot

My monthly mileage varies, but i average 2000 - 2500.

Quick math and using FuelEconomy.gov mpg numbers for EcoBoost 4x4 vs Ram 1500 4x4 EcoDiesel

Ford 2K miles @17mpg combined = 117.65 gallons x $3.20/gal = $376.48
Ram 2K miles @22mpg combined = 90.1 gallons x $3.79/gal = $345.45

Do you NEED a Ford? Just cuz you're asking about mileage and the Ford is not the best. The new Ram 3.6 gets awesome mileage, as well as the new Ecodiesel, the GM trucks also beat Fords mileage

Well I thought my best deal (a plan) would be the ford and I thought the f150 was the nicest. I had an 07 back in 07-09' and loved it. I can also get gm employee discount, so I went a drove some trucks today. Boy I was wrong. The 14' gm truck is much nicer than the 14' ford. The f150 (xlt) felt the same as my 07'. For those that don't think a standard v6 is a capable engine, I suggest driving one of gm's new 4.3 ecotec's. I was impressed. As far as ram, I can't get good enough pricing and my company reimbursement doesn't have a diesel per mile rate provision so it doesn't save me anything. As of right now, I am buying a 14 gmc Sierra sle z71 with the 4.3.

Interesting....

yesterday a neighbors friend pulled up in his new Colorado with the 3.6 direct injected engine, like the camaro/caddy sports. He had a whole 35 miles on it but raved about its power. Hmmm.....

I would have gone with one as well, but gm did a really shitty job on the back seat. It doesn't have a nice flat floor when you fold up the seat like the full size does. Need it for my big old golden retriever...

Good call, the new GM trucks are awesome, and the new 4.3 (same size, but totally new and modern) has tons of power. Plus, there's this:

Not a Sierra, but still good.
