You heard wrong  I've got one with a lot of miles on it. I actually took it off my Monte Carlo when it sold, and my dad now uses it.

do i have to use the regulator that they suggest.. the a-1000 carb one or will any good carb bypass one work?
the a-1000 carb one and then you have a fuel system capable of 1300 hp considering you have the proper sized lines

Aeromotive Pump

The A1000 is a great fuel pump... I had it on my turbo/nitrous car and when I parted out the car I took it off so I could put it on my fox body. Both cars were and are street cars. I am using a aermotive fuel pump controller so when Im on the street the voltage stays low below a certain RPM. There is also an overide switch to run full voltage say at the track or for whatever need arises. Here is a link to the fuel pump controller.
