Fundraiser for one of our founding members- Mike Fortuna, aka. Tuna

Some of you know that Mike was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, and it seemed to have gone into remission. Unfortunately, the cancer has returned in the form of stage 4 Medullary Carcinoma.

For those that don't know Mike, he is a 36 year old father of 4, one of our founders, and a all around good guy. He has probably done more charity work on members vehicles than anyone else on Motown. He is a quiet guy, so many of you may have met him and don't have a clue who he is.

His friends and family has organized a fundraiser for Mike, if you are interested in attending the information is:

Saturday May 14, 2011 at 2:00P.M.
Am Vets Hall (Post 72) 57581 Am vets Dr, New Haven MI, 48048
$10.00 donations at the door.
We are offering spaghetti
dinner, salad, rolls and deserts.
We will be having a silent auction, 50/50, raffle tickets for a
50” T.v, a blue ray player and surround sound.

For those asking about sending a donation, they have an account set up at Bank of America. The account info is:

Bank of America
Hunsinger Benefit for Michael
Acct # 375003945813

I hope to see some of you guys out there today, I know Mike could use the showing of support from this place.

I am really resisting the urge to be a complete dick about the fact that only 8 people on this board could take a few hours out of their day to show another member some support.I know a couple people said they couldn't make it out because of prior obligations, but 8 fucking people. Guess I should have said his dog had cancer, seems to get a lot more reaction than a man with 4 kids who has stage 4 cancer and just had major surgery to avoid being paralyzed by it.

Mike along with a couple others is the reason why we are able to post, get help, sell our crap, and look at dirty stuff.

So let it be said, and after hearing of what happened I could really care less if you think its my place to say something or not, If you think I'm wrong, you are more than welcome to argue your case with Mike's wife and 4 children standing next to me.

If you post on this site, you should then feel compelled to send anything you can to one of the guys that has made it possible for you to do so.

There is a reason why we haven't turned into a site like yellowbullet, and thats because we are and always have been a tight nit group of caring people. So its NOW that we truley show and prove just how tight nit and caring we are!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you dont send something then please do this site a favor and LEAVE, dont look back, because you didnt belong to begin with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,
Greg & Sheri Hissong
Caring friends of Mike

I feel like crap, I knew I wasn't going to make it, but I had planned on paypaling him some money. So I just sent a donation to the paypal: [email protected].

I hope everybody sends something since Brandon promised a match.

I sent money.

And since you said you would resist the urge to be a complete dick.... but then didn't, allow me to resist the urge in the same manner. I'm glad that you feel compelled to pass judgment on me for not making it out. Tell ya what, I'll PM you my address and my employer's email address. You can let them know that you will be covering my shift at work. When you're done there, stop by my house and watch my 6 month old kid for the remainder of the evening as well.

Hopefully I now have the blessing to stay on the board from those who pass judgment

x2. Greg, you are and always will be a douche-bag.

Tuna is cool though, and I will be contributing to his cause.

I'm sure Mike and his family wouldn't want you insulting an entire message board on their behalf.

I understand your frustration, but I think it's misplaced given the difficulty in attending weekend events for many of us who work weekends and have families that need our time.

For what it's worth, I made a cash deposit into the Hunsinger Bank of America account on 4/13/11 and then sent a copy of the deposit slip to Brandon so he could match it.

I have lifted Mike and his family in prayer and tried to offer some financial assistance. That's the way in which I can contribute.

If others are able to contribute in other ways, such as spending time with the family, driving Mike to a doctors appointment, etc that's wonderful.

We all have different abilities and resources and can be a blessing in our own way.

Accusing the lot of the us of being ungrateful selfish jerks for not taking a day off work and driving two hours to attend a lunch is completely unnecessary.

Yea. If the issue wasn't so serious, I'd be far more pissed than I am. Granted I have a valid excuse, but insulting the board because the turnout wasn't as high as you expected is tough. Not to be critical of Mike, but he hasn't posted in a while and many members here just know the old timers respect him. And that's all that they need to know that they will make as much of a donation as they can. I'm sure the monetary donations from those people are above and beyond what could be expected from any other group. We have a good group of people here who do what they can. Insulting them is one quick way to lose respect.

I was selfishly attending the Westland-American Cancer Relay for Life for my niece that past 1.5 years ago due to cancer. The team raised over $5,300 towards cancer research. I was part of the creation of MM along with Mike, and spoke to him more than once recently and I know your post doesn't convey his personality or attitude.

Great attitude, real classy and a great way to encourage people to donate. You're a douche bag.

FWIW I've organized a few fundraisers for members on here. You get a lot further with being polite and thankful than telling people they're worthless when they don't contribute.

Sorry I couldn't be there since my 83 Y/O Mother was rushed to the hospital last week. I chose to be at her side during her emergency surgery instead of being elsewhere.

I am happy you took it upon yourself to speak on the board's behalf. I am going to take your advice and say Good Bye...

Gary

If Gary leaves, the average age on the board drops in half.

I think I"m gonna lock this thread down, I know this isn't what Mike would want to come of this thread.

I wanted to voice my opinion on 89notchback..........

Who the hell are you to strong arm people into "donating money" or "leave this site"?
Some of us (me included) are still unemployed, I got 2 mortgages, bills on both houses, car payment, an animal with Kidney failure thats costing about $150 a week to keep her alive, a father in-law in another state that is hospitalized with Parkinson's, Kidney stones, Kidney failure, bladder cancer, and Diabetes.. an uncle who has the rarest form of Parkinson's who can't even eat, shit, walk, talk, think.. he's just a vegetable waiting to die.
I got a list of other shit I can tack on but I hope you get my point...
When I read the first post about Tuna, the only thing I could do was send GOD a message to help him and his family... which In my situation, a prayer to GOD was worth a lot more then any money I could of donated.
And no, I'm not going anywhere and Gary (grr456), nor should you!

I didn't get to see what he posted, but I know he isn't a pile of shit or an idiot (well, no more than a lot of other guys on here ). Like myself, he was offended at the showing of support for another member.
Im betting the post was pretty harsh, maybe some of it completely uncalled for, but for some people, it was probably 100% true (again, I could be way wrong, I didn't see it)

Most of my irritation is focused on the people that know Mike, have had no problem asking Mike for favors in the past, but couldn't bother to stop in for an hour to say hi. Mike wasn't expecting people to throw money at him, and sadly he said that he doubted that more than a couple from Motown would show up. I was dumb enough to think he was wrong, but he wasn't.

I said my bit on the matter.

So yeah, screw him. What a turd and an embarrassment to this site and all the good we've done for people over the years.

Everyone please take a deep breath for just a moment....if you can put yourself in the place of someone who is frustrated at life's sh1t (such as Tuna's illness) and takes it out on the world.
(The world being this website & it's members.)
That's what's going on, and I'm sure you've felt mad because of things you can't control & just lose it for a few. That's all that took place in the original thread.
