EVAP removal on my 2000 Saleen questions

So I am in the middle of installing my fuel system and am removing the current EVAP system as it wont work with the chevy motor anyway. problem is that the new tank ive got has holes in it for the old stuff to go, which should be easy to just take the old stuff and put it in the new, except the damn stuff is stuck in there sooo damn tight i practically need to destroy it to get it out.

Where can I get a good flowing vent for a tank? I think im probably just going to have the holes welded up and try to place an AN style fitting through it to a line I can run up the frame to a filter. Any reason to not do this?
