Estimate power? 347

Neil Van Oppre from MM&FF has gone high 11's with his Mustang and it only makes about 310hp (3030lbs w/ driver). Proof that sticking with something and working on all the little details does work.

I'm tossing the p's on the 302 with the intake and carb. I'll screw around with more power after I swap the stock 8" rear-end for something a little stronger. I am putting 4.10's in the rear, so it will be fun on the street with the torque from the P's.

Now what about a small shot of nitrous on a stock bottom end?

If it breaks, I'll just replace it. I have a 302 out of the '69 sitting on the shelf at my parent's house. I'd rather break the aftermarket block in the '66 (mid /80's block) then tamper with the original engine out of the '69.

It will take a 100 shot all day i'd say as long as the tune is right on it.

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner.

EXACTLY! This is what most don't understand on the other boards!

Holy hell! Wanna do an evaluation on mine? What did it trap? What were those 60fts?
went 1.40 60ft and around 120mph..

only reason i put it on chassis dyno was because it was free. another time i put my 363 on the dyno it made 360rwhp but went 10.20 with a c4 trans and nos gear and converter. i never beleived in chassis dynos and this was the reason. both motors showed no hp on the dyno but ran real well for the combo.

302s are fun motors but you gotta spin them high to run good, they make no torque so it wont do shit down low especially with an auto in it. i shifted at 8000rpms with stock crank, block and rods. had old trw pistons in it

Dude how are you guys making over 300 wheel with cast heads? I want to get 290+ through an auto but i got ported alum heads.what do

Agreed, we need more info on this beast! Only thing I can find is a 347 you started out on. How "built" was this 302? I'm guessing quite a bit since you are saying the 310 was not right, and if it was trapping 120 there is no way that it was right @ that weight.

It was a 302ci stock block. Crank. And rods. Had trw forged pistons. Small solid roller and tfs hi port heads with a vic jr intake and a 750hp carb. 5 speed with 4.56 gear

Wow, assuming a 28" tall tire you must have been turning 6700-6800 through the traps!
