Estimate power? 347

Was that a 0 balanced stock crank or a 28 or 50oz? ARP bolts in the rods, shot peened I'm guessing?

stock crank. Stock rods with arp bolts and stock balancer. I didnt care about shortblock at all and beat the snot out of it the higher i would shift the faster it would go heads and cam were big for combo but it ran well. I sold the shortblock on here still together

Thanks John, damn that's nuts.

a 347 is better though but if you were to spend the money you mine as well do a 351 base motor. by the time you buy crank and rods and pistons you can have a 351 with a decent piston in it and spray it and go low 9s with a stock block pretty easy and a decent head. the pinks tbird engine for instance went 11.20s on motor and 9.40s with a 275shot if it had a better head on it would have prob went 9.0s or faster.

9's would twist my car in 1/2

just re-read all of this. My car put down 275whp through an auto with f303, porter performers slighly milled and a cobra intake. Next is longtubes, what else could i get to break 300? you guys are making some nice numbers with simple combo's, why is mine lagging?

Most likely no one has replied because they are unaware of your whole set up. It also depends on the type, and settings on the dyno that you put that power down. It doesn't matter if the dyno says your car only puts down 250 but runs hard at the track, so how does it fare at the track where it really matters? Most likely though you have room to grow in the tune, but what is your entire set up? I'm sure I should know it from past pm's and most likely posts of yours but to be honest I can't specifically recall.

Its got 410s, bbk equal shorties, x pipe, flows, under drives ,65mm tb, bbk cold air . And no it doesn't seem to run that hard . This was on a dyno jet

My mustang with stock shortblock trickflow heads intake and f cam with all bolt ons made about 280 to tire and ran mid 12$ put 6lbs thru a little vortech it made 350 to tire and ran high 11$ with aod 3000 stall with 410 gears motor it trapped 110 Blower it trapped 119

Sorry man, I had a big long typed up response the other morning then I had to close my browser and lost it all! I'll try to keep it shorter (oops) but don't really know how it will benefit you. IMO I would lose the flowmasters, the 65mm TB, and the cobra intake. Here's why; unfortunately I still can't upload the jpgs but here's the quick raw version. This was a few years back with the old AFM cam. 3.73s, BBK equal length shorties through the complete exhaust that consisted of a flowtech h-pipe and 2 chamber 40 series FM's with 2.5" tails.

In street trim 303/336. Opened the race readies and got 317/346.

Jump forward to after that winter of upgrades. BBK LT's, BBK X-pipe, dynomax welded mufflers, 4.30 gears, and an aluminum flywheel. Through the complete exhaust again in street trim 310/334, now had I still been running the 3.73's and the heavier flywheel the #'s would have been more optimistic (yes I know they don't change the actual power).

I don't have race readies anymore and have not ran the car with open headers as I used to all the time, yet it had still gone quicker than any of my open header passes before, and absolutely quicker than when I ran events where I had to run through the fm's. (typically I would see a 1.5mph loss and nearly equivelent .15 ET loss through the FM's vs having the race readies open.

In reference to all of the above this was back when I was still running the AFM cam.

Now move forward to the custom cam and with all else the same (aside from a lot of re-tuning after the swap) it put down 329/353 in the same manner as it put down the 310/334, just the cam swap.

Now getting onto why the intake; with the old Typhoon U/L the car had gone a best of 113.91 and would average around 112, after the swap to the Explorer intake it has gone a best of 111, only 1 time if I recall, and averages mid 110's. This is with a stock high mileage Explorer long block that the P-heads haven't even been off of so if this intake can't support this up top I have a hard time believing it can efficiently support your higher flowing heads. I also have to say that my 1/8 mile traps haven't changed any measurable amount since the intake swap, however my 1/4 trap has. My reasoning is that in the front 1/2 of the track it doesn't see over 6k, meanwhile running it out the back 1/2 it's exceeding that 6k. For reference, the car had been 11.78 with the Typhoon and MT DR's, and in only the 2 events I've ran it's gone a best of 11.96 in NMRA Factory Stock trim with the Explorer intake and on BFG DR's. Remember, this is a stock Explorer long block, not a dedicated race engine...yet :icon_wink

The other thing I would have to ask is; are you still running a stock tune, and your #'s seem to be on with 90Supercharged being that you both have autos. Honestly I wouldn't even worry about the dyno #'s without knowing what it actually traps in the 1/4.

Hopefully some of this non proof-read, rushed, non-sense gibber jabber can be of some type of value, LOL

did you have any work done to the heads? what other bolt ons? did you use longtubes? did you degree your f cam?

Who cares about Dyno numbers, take it to the track.
