ESCORT Passport 9500ci Radar Detector Troubleshooting

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a shop to troubleshoot and repair an ESCORT Passport 9500ci Radar Detector that's been wired into a 2014 F-150 Raptor. The issue is that it cannot connect to the satellite and it's been like this since the day it was installed. I'm not sure if it's a defective unit or if it was wired incorrectly. Not to sound like an ass, what about the place that installed it? If its been like that since it was new I would at least start there. What was thier reasoning for it not connecting to the sat?
 
It was installed at the dealership in IN. The dealership said that they would pay for a local shop to fix it so the vehicle doesn't have to be drove back down to IN. I'm just trying to help a buddy out because he doesn't feel like driving back down there. I'm not too sure why it won't connect.
 
Maybe it needs to be updated or its not in line of sight for the satellites. My 9500ix wont connect to gps randomly and Ill have to unplug it and plug it back in.

V1's are nice but noisy as hell around town. If Mike integrated gps into his RD, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
