Engine swap 99 V6 mustang to v8 Questions

Right now I'd be able to pick up a 99 v6 mustang 5 speed like REALLY cheap. Obviously the v6 is lame, so I'd want to go V8. Just curious what you guys think would be better, like a 302, or the 4.6 that would be in it if it was a gt, or ??? Also, what else would it need? Is this something that could be done for a couple thousand?(solid motor + any other parts needed, and labor) Thanks guys, +rep for good responses.

Is that seriously the whole kit for less than 400? Somethin doesnt sound right.... Thats not a terrible idea tho. Id have to have someone look at it, not sure if the motor will hold up or not

ebay turbos man. cheap. but effective.

you would need to get injectors, fuel pump, a tune, and do the hotside stuff (headers up-pipe and down pipe).

Do a leakdown and compression test on the engine and go from there.

good luck and keep us posted.

I jus done this swap to a v8, its a pita but it can be done. if you wanna make it easy for yourself have a donor car for all the wiring ang switch out everything. but like these guys say you could jus turbo the v6, and possibly swap the 3.8 out for a 4.0

5.4 32 valve. Just wondering how much you are going to pay for a v6 car when the new edge gt cars can be had for so cheap, not to mention better rear end transmission etc. I would question whether or not it would even be worth it

I'd agree on the turbo setup, but a complete kit for $400 is pretty suspicious sounding to me.
You might have more fun and less work by just throwing a 100shot on it if you want to try something like that ebay turbo kit.

Honestly if you want to convert to a V8.....Just buy a GT, you can get them cheap.....save yourself alot of work... Now if you wanna go unigue like a turbo, ls1 or carb.....That would be a great donor car for that kind of project.......But why do all that work to convert a v-6 when GT's are so readly available, factory done, and cheap. Good luck what ever you do tho, keep us posted!!

Also as stated already, you gotta get trans ,rear end, suspension. Its just just a motor swap. Plus dont forget about the PCM......Basically you are gona have to buy an entire GT anyway as a donor car.
