engine knocking

I have a 2009 fusion with 28k miles.......I had the oil changed earlier today, and on my way to work, the engine began knocking.....any ideas????
 
Yes, oil level is full. It never made a sound before this oil change......I called the place that changed the oil and they said they would look at it in the morning when they open.....hopefully it is as simple as flushing that oil and replacing it.......
 
wrong oil will do that. new motor run thin oil for a reason. run thicker oil and kill the life of your motor.

I would make sure the CORRECT filter was used.....Before you go in, ID the filter on your car now, and reference it online.....Make sure for yourself they did, because if thats the problem they will put the correct one on and say its not there fault........If it is inorrect take a picture of it on your car.....That way they will have to pay for repairs.
 
Well, I took the car back to the oil change shop that worked on my car yesterday. They said nothing appears to be wrong with what they did, however the oil is WAY too dirty for just having been changed yesterday. So off to the dealer I go on Monday to see if they will warranty the motor......My only issue will be that I have no receipts from previous oil changes....hopefully they won't be dicks about that and try to push the blame off on me.....
 
Why didn't you ask the guys at the oil change place why the oil was so dirty in such a short time frame? Oil shouldn't get that dirty that fast... Something else is up...
 
That's bullshit...

Ask them what weight oil they used... Asked them if it was recycled oil or virgin oil... What oil filter did they use? Made in China or USA?

The only time that happens is when people don't change the oil often enough and sludge up the engine.
 
Oil is 5w20, which is what the owner's manual calls for, and I referenced the oil filter and matched it to what they put on the car, although the one they used is generic, it is the appropriate filter. I would assume since it's generic it is made outside of the USA.
 
similar thing happened to a girl i know, she had a jeep liberty that got a siezed engine. Turns out the place she had been taking it to for oil changes was just taking her money. They place that was ripping her off paid to have a new engine put in.
 
thats why IF i dont change my own, i take it to the dealership.. you really are not saving a ton of cash by going to an independent shop and it also shows the dealership you are a loyal customer. down the road they are more willing to help you if something breaks out of warranty.
