engine install

GEN3LSX

New member
Hi, Noob here, need some advice on where near Brownstown Mi I can get someone to swap my 350 out of my 1972 ChevelleSS and replace it with a brand new gen3lsx engine, with an automatic tranny? Also hours it would take, and a fair price to pay? Any help appreciated! Thanks much.

I could do that out of my garage, but keep in mind that a brand new engine will cost money, plus any swap parts, mounts, etc.

I already have the engine, 2 buddies were going to help me with the install, but 1 got sick and the other got a job. Engine is gen3ls build, never been fired, 6.0 iron block .030 over, 6-bolt clevite mains, afr lsx "mongoose" 214 heads, hypeutectic pistons, ls1 roller rockers, ls7 hyd-roller lifters, comp cam, qft 750 carb, and much more. How much time, and cost please?

Hi, I already have the engine with all the stuff, professionally built, never been run. Two buddies were going to help me but one is sick and the other got a job and can't help. Need a price of what u would charge, for the swap. Have a 350/290 hp in the car now.

That is a major undertaking...Different engine mounts, lsx swap specific headers unless you use factory exhaust manifolds, exhaust system mods, possibly longer or shorter driveshaft, an EFI fuel pump and fuel lines that wont burst with 60psi, and most importantly...a complete wiring job/engine wire harness + make guages work with all the new sensors.

Downriver Motorsport Wiring is a sponsor you could call and ask.

I trust Dave with any of my cars too, he's helped me with a lot of stuff and is an engine swap enthusiest.

there is a guy on craiglist who does LSx conversion harnesses...that whould be a easy way to keep the wiring from being an obsticle.

There are mounts and brackets to get the engine where it needed to sit, if the mechanic has to figure these out its gonna cost you.

Exhaust will be tricky and IMO you should find a swap like you are trying to get done (is this a G body) and copy what they have done, we have a guy (Beester I think) who has a sweet turbo LSx in a B-body...more homework you do the easier it will be to instruct your help :)

good luck
