egr delete question

has anyone done a egr delete on a mustang
i bought a motor that came with a 1 inch intake spacer which would require me to have a inch longer egr tube,i bought the motor with headers,the header is already capped off and i saw on ebay they sell a block off plate,and a egr skip eliminator,what else would i need to do to make this work or should i forget the spacer and put on a stock tube? is there a performance difference without the egr? thanks for the info
 
www.corral.net has a ton of info on this. You dont need the elimintor resistors that they sell....and I dont beleive there is any performance advantage, just a cleaner engine bay.
 
i just yanked off the smog pump... pulled the crossover pipe off the back of the heads and pluged them with two bolts (i think they were 9/16th course thread x 1'' long. and i put two washers on each bolt and caked it all with caterpilier grade red locktite haha. yank all the houses and the egr tube goign to the h pipe/headers. and put a shorter belt on. no performance change but the exhaust tone got deeper, you loose weight, and it is alot easier to work on the car.

go to the tech or articles section (whatever one it is) go to engine... and then smog system removal. and it has a good right up.

No. The main purpose of the EGR is to help emissions compliance and to cool combustion temps.

By recirculating exhaust gases back into the intake track, the spent gases take up volume in the combustion chamber that could be filled by fresh air/fuel mixture.

Also the EGR only is only "open" or recirculating spent gases during cruising, so at WOT it stays shut anyway. Thus helping increase gas mileage.

I have and can make spacers for 5.0 motors if needed any bore from 60-90 an thinkness 1/4-2inch
