Is the Ecoboost powertrain going to be available in an Expedition anytime soon?
My parents want to replace their MKT with an Expedition or Navigator. I'm not finding anything definitive online.

Responded to you PM and Rev is correct. There is a "rumor" it will be in the 2014 model. Maybe one of the Ford guys can confirm it.

screw a ecoboost.......I want a 6.7L DIESEL expedition......even better would be to bring the excursion back.....

THIS!!!
I told the wife if we hit the lotto, I'm MAKING a new Excursion out of a current 6.7L Super Duty. 800 lb/ft, quiet as a gas engine, 6 speed auto, 20+ MPG, three rows of seats OR haul a sheet of plywood. Both on the same day, if you need to.

From what I recall, there wasn't enough market segment available to justify producing them. Always seemed like a killer setup to me...if it fits your lifestyle.

Diesel is approximately $1/gallon more than gasoline right now. As much as we all would like a small diesel (or a big one) in a full size SUV or a half ton pickup, it's not going to happen. Small displacement gasoline engines with turbochargers and direct injection is the current glide-path to meet customer needs as well as government mandates (fuel economy and emissions). I don't see that changing anytime soon unless we have some paradigm shift that changes the rules of the game. If the costs of energy stay relatively constant we're going to stay on the current path.

Scooter, my man, please don't confuse me with FACTS!! I want an Excursion with the new 6.7 powertrain! I know the chances of getting one are directly proportional to my hitting the lotto. In fact, dependent on me hitting the lotto!
