Driveline problems again please help!

Well I got the car running today and seem to have a few issues to figure out in the driveline.

Driveline consists of the following:
QuickTime Bell Housing for 4.6, Mcleod street twins clutch with aluminum flywheel(new), Tremec TKO 600(just rebuilt by D&D), stock clutch cable, Fiore firewall adjuster, steeda double hook clutch quadrant.

1st: The car is making a grinding noise when I go to start it sometimes. It seems that the starter is either under engaging or over engaging on the flywheel. When you turn the key it either starts or makes a high pitch noise like the starter isn’t engaged properly. Could this be cause by the quick time bell housing motor plate since its 1/16” thicker.

2nd-I have the clutch adjusted the best I can with the stock cable and Fiore firewall adjuster, but the car grinds going into reverse. If I put it into first then reverse it does not grind, but if you go from neutral to reverse it grinds. I can put it in any gear just fine and even change gears without grinding. I don’t know if all TKO 600 trans are like this or is something messed up? I just had the trans rebuilt, they put a new output shaft and something else that I cannot think of currently.

3rd-I don’t feel as if the stock clutch cable is long enough with the new bell housing. I have to use a pry bar to get the cable on the fork, and I feel as if its leaving some pressure on the clutch and don’t want to burn up the discs. How are the adjustable cables in comparison to the stock cable? Is its shortest point the same length as the stock cable?

Please give me some items to check out, as I would like to figure what to do so I can finally drive my car and enjoy what is left of summer!

is your bell actually thicker/longer?
mine even with the mid plate is the same thickness as stock
I hope your street twin works better than mine

The starter problem might be it need to be shimmed.i have a tko600 in my car do you have the trans shimmed? It is supposed to be on a -2to-3 degree angle i had diamond fab make mine that could your grinding problem dont keep driving the car around you wll kill the main shaft.

No. even with a thicker mid plate, the flyhweel & starter are still in the same location. Has the engine been line bored? if so, it moves the crank location.Also-did you indicate the flywheel to the engine

If it grinds in reverse, your input shaft is still spinning/thus your clutch assy is not releasing all the way, causes would include improper adjustment, bent clutch disc(from installation) clutch disc sticking on input splines(improperly lubed) just to name a few

Sometimes if a cable is not feasible, switching to a hydraulic system is necessary

please explain about shimming the trans, I have always just bolted this trans up in the past and went to play.

Its not shimming as much as it is lining it up. The utube video I posted a link to pretty much sums it up.
I know they make a line up tool for bellhousings, but Ive only seen one for chevys.
Call me @ the shop Carl and Ill explain it to you-586-777-4444
