Drag radial for 98 Vet?

A guy at work has a super charged vet and he wants a drag radial for it on a stock rim....18"? He took it to lapeer and ran a 12.7 and the MPH was 119. He spun real bad and had to get out of it. He was wondering if it is worth putting a DR on it and where to get them and not spend 300.00+ a pop. And what was the time difference with a DR?

auto or stick?
manual trans vettes seem to like et streets.(not radials) cause they don't shock the driveline and break shafts/diffs like a stiff sidewall radial

well thats what he doesnt want....he wants to drive it on the street and not do cool burn outs while a stock stang with a B cam walks him./
