I bought this car last month and basically everything I was told about the engine and rear end was a lie. The car is a 85 coupe with a 351w / C4 setup. The gut I bought it from (Scott) tells me I am shit out of luck and I signed an as is bill of sale. He gave me all the specs on the engine and drive train setup by word of mouth, and now says that's what he was told when he bought the engine that was supposedly built by Rays performance. He did put in the for sale ad CNC heads. He said he would give me the engine build sheet in the following week from when I bought it. He has acted like he sent it via fax but I never get it, I've told him to take phone pics of it and text me but he does not respond. I bought the car based on the engine build.
Here is what he claimed and I've found so far:
Said the heads were performer RPM that had been fully cnc ported and setup with 2.08 valves with roller cam springs-- Actually are just bone stock RPM heads with flat tappet springs
Said the cam was a roller cam with retrofit roller lifters-- Has a hydraulic flat tappet cam
Said the Lower end was built with forged pistons, crank, and h beam rods-- Have not pulled the pan but the top of the piston matches a Kieth Black hyper piston
Said the car will pull strong to 7000rpm-- falls on its face around 5500
Said it had aftermarket axles with c clip eliminators-- has stock axles with no eliminators
Said Dave at team z helped set the pinion angle-- Had SSM uppers and lowers, but HPM lower relocation brackets which pushed the bottom of the axle 1/2 back giving it about -12 negative pinion angle
probably a lot more but all i can think of right now
After asking him if he wanted to help me out in any way to rectify any of this, he told me to stop contacting him or he will file a harassment report against me. Just want to post this out there so this Asshole does not screw anyone else. I will post pics of the car and engine shortly
