I have a 96 ford taurus that is starting to have some troubles. I can probably deal with it for a while but if someone here rebuilds them on the side, let me know.
thanks

Might want to give Sean at CARS a call. Not sure if he rebuilds them but they'll do the in-out labor.

I had a 99 Taurus and I had (what I thought) an issue with the trans and they are NOT cheap at all. Like $1200 on up to rebuild. I took it to a guy and had it checked out and was a sensor causing it to shift incorrectly (forget the name or part#) but was cheap like a $70 fix. Did it myself in like 5 minutes. Have them put it on a Diagnostic to see first.

what was wrong with yours? Mine, when it's cold, likes to go from D to neutral, the motor just spins. I have to switch the gear to R then back to D and try again, or until it warms up, then it drives in D normally. I can not drive in (D)(overdrive); if I drive in (D) when I come to a stop the motor goes into neutral again.

I WAS low on trans fluid, so i filled it up slowly with mercon IV, it didn't help and I see no signs of a leak anywhere.

Thanks for the #'s, i'll give those places a call.

Crazy, let me know if that was the same problem you were having, thanks.

I forget what the part was that was bad but it was like $70 to buy and is ontop by the intake. It has been like 3 years when I had the issue and sold the car about 2.5 years ago. But my symptoms were different as mine felt like a classic case of the Trans slipping everytime it wanted to shift. A big lag (and would rev) trying to shift always in the (O) overdrive position mostly under higher acceleration. It kept throwing my Trans light on too. Good Luck Steve

Yeah Matt just trying to help the guy out and I know he does good work for a fair price. I asked him about your gas tank situation and told him that you may have found someone to do the work for $120. He said good luck to the guy that is doing them because he knows what all is involved and hopefully he knows how to re-sintall the lines and not get them all confused :dontknow:

PM crazy AL and get my guys info. I lost the paper with his info after I sent it to AL

HE builds them for FORD. He usually charges 500 for the build including disks and stuff. If any hard parts are broke then its slightly more.
