I have a 2001 Porsche Boxster that has a airbag light on. I was told this is a common problem due to a seat belt connector switch going bad. Apperently Porsche can only be scanned with a Porsche scan tool only. Can someone help me out?

THANKS

Might have to dig into the wallet and to go the dealer on that one buddy.......Im sure they rake you over the coals at the Porsche dealer too!

thoeretically Porsche is required to comply with the OBD2 legislation. Any global capable OBD2 scanner should be able to gett all the codes. If you want to bring it by the shop I will see if I can extract the error codes for you.

Porsche can only be scanned by a Porsche scan tool. I have a Mac Mentor and it will not connect. I tried my buddy's Snap on tool and nothing. Looked online and found that only a Porsche tool will work. The dealer I called wanted money to scan but said they would only turn the light off if they do the work.

This should not be the case. What snap on scan tool are you trying to use ?

I believe it was a Verus. Had updates to 07 and had the full euro pack installed. This was a friend from Wisconsin, had him bring it when he came to visit.

I was pretty sure all european controllers were required to talk in one of 3 ISO formats on the vehicle network. But porsche being a small manufacturer may have found a way around this due to vehicle volume. Been awhile since I looked at compliance issues so the memory is a bit fuzzy on the whole shebang

I think its just emmisions related that are required to be global
