Digital rollbacks

People ask if I can do this to their cars all the time, it's sickening. No I can't and no I wouldn't.

Rolling back odometers has been going on ever since odometers were invented.

True, but it never makes it ok or right.

I am proud to say in all my years and all
the vehicles I've ownd & sold, I've never messed
with an odometer, never have, never will.

More so than odometer fraud is vehicles being sold with fraudulent LIEN payoffs. Huge in Macomb and Oakland Counties now. If your happen to buy a car then discover after the prior LEIN payoff was not paid...you will lose the car and any money you paid. If you took out loan and first lender wants car back you will lose car and have go through mess of time and paperwork to get it removed from your name. Be careful and call the actual lender if buying from private parties or small dealers.

How in the hell is that even possible?

When the motivation is money anything is possible. Odometer roll back is way more common than you'd think, when I did more work in Detroit and Dearborn I'd catch it all the time. One reason I'd never entertain a used car from either area or for that matter if it was ever registered there.

I'm talking about the lien fraud. I know ppl are shitty with ODOs, as a tech I used to get asked ALL of the time. Never even thought about doing it.

Man the Arabs in Dearborn are the worst, I’ve seen some of the shut they bring to my brother to weld and it’s crazy, one guy put a new front clip on a Durango and filled the unibody tube with spray foam to hold it on and sold it that way. Engine cradles crakes in half and want them welded up or make one out of two, shits insane. Never buy a car from Dearborn unless it’s a new car dealer.

I looked at a 2017 Grand Sport in Dearborn the other day with 4,000 miles and that thing was roughest 4000 miles you've ever seen in your life!
The first thing I thought was rollback.

I have always ran a vin check on anything I buy.

Its buyer beware and it doesnt take much to run the vin. Its easy to clean up title status and change mileage. Plus with the exemption of mileage after 10 model years, It doesnt hurt to know what you are dealing with.

I sold a Durango in the fall, the next day it was on fb marketplace, with another persons name other than guy who bought it from me, and had around 60,000 less miles on it.

I hope you contact the State of Michigan about it.

I have owned 2 cars that I didnt know they were rolled back till after the purchase........

I purchased a car several years ago, then found an ad for the it by another seller with far more miles than when I purchased it. I contacted the person I got it from and told them I wanted the money back for the car and registration fees. I told him I knew what he did and if he didn’t come get the car and pay me back, I’d report him. He refunded the cash and I made sure to check the not actual mileage box and write the actual mileage on the title.

Exempt mean its exempt from being documented after 10 years does not mean its ok to roll back because its exempt...a lot these small dealerships or private parties play dumb and think exempt makes it ok.
