Diesel Camaro

pretty sure its intercooled and all thats needed to mod is the spring load on the wastegate for more psi. I talked with you at the lot on 14 mile (american home fitness) at woodward. Very clean swap but having alot of experience with 6.5's i'd say it isnt the best motor for high performance. high compression and weak lower ends hurt the chances of makin big power, but it makes ALOT of Torque! Nice to see something different, I couldnt believe my ears when you pulled up!

That's the nice way of calling it how it is.

It's badass none the less TQ wise

I'd rock it for sure.

Thanks everybody. i sure feel welcome here!

Specs..
car started as a little 3.4L V6, no options
6.5L Turbo Diesel, 506 block, about 100K miles before install
4L80E trans
Rear mounted Holset Hx-35w turbo, 15 psi max
Intercooled
Max RPM 3400
UMI Full Rear Suspension, heim joints/polys
Poly Bushings in front
TCI TCU Trans Controller
Denny's Nitrous steel driveshaft
4 point roll bar
weight reduction (still about 3900lb with me in it)
LS1 Brake upgrade
2.73:1 rear, factory locker
Firebird Dash and seats, full gauges
dual batteries in rear, 12.5 gallon fuel cell
Biodiesel ready fuel system, currently run a 50/50 of ULSD and SVO
Unibody reinforced
30 mpg average 60 highway/40 city
prob soem other chit i haven't thought of.

no mods really done to the motor. Stock these things barely push 200 hp to the wheels, the torque is there though. but I am in the process of building a pretty stout engine. It consists of ARP head/main studs, ported heads, cam,
lower comp, which will allow more RPM,PSI and fuel to be safely run.

Hasn't been to the track yet, no dyno time either

These motors aren't known for their power. Heck, there has only been a handful of people who have broke 300 whp. Lack of R&D combined with a slow market has never produced aftermarket parts (internal) for the 6.5
So not only do I have to develop them, but test and perfect. needless to say it takes alot of time.

Also, it may not look like it, but this was a budget build. you wouldn't believe how little I have into it.

next spring she'll be ready to put down soem respectable numbers....
Thanks again guys..I really do love this car

Hey Cody, only question is with your math. With 60hwy/40city how do you average 30? It should be 50mpg shouldn't it? And if you can make a Milan date like I mentioned to you just post up and others who are going will let you know so there will be more there. I'm sure many on here would like to see that run.

been awhile since I last posted.

I realized my rear mount turbo was holding me back, so I decided to design and build a turbo system that would be the last one I would ever need.

so, I relocated the radiator forward, down, and faced it straight up. I also did some weight reduction in the front to make room for the Holset He351ve vgt turbo.

this is what I came up with. the pics below were during final assembly but the air filter and downpipe are not attached.

result=instant boost everywhere. just test drove it for the first time yesterday. now I gotta work on dialin in the vgt actuation to limit my boost to 15psi. but as of right now i can have 5 psi brake stall, and 10 psi at 1500 rpm!!!

thank you! it's too bad we have all this snow, otherwise I'd be driving right now.

OT, how do I edit my sig here?

Sigs are for donating members and alumni.. It's worth it if you're going to stick around! :)
