In a stunning example of all that is wrong with the management and government in the city of Detroit...

DETROIT - It was a city in flames as dozens of fires burned across Detroit Tuesday. The aftermath is very clear. What used to be homes are now piles of charred rubble. Early estimates show there were at least 85 fires, all within a four hour period.

Winds gusting up to 50 miles per hour are blamed for knocking down power lines and fanning the flames in some cases. Meanwhile, in one neighborhood, an illegal power hookup led to the fiery mess.

Sadness and anger doesn’t even begin to explain what people are feeling. They are heartbroken. They invested everything they had in these neighborhoods.

As if families in one west side neighborhood hadn’t been through enough, a meter maid began slapping cars parked in front of gutted homes with tickets Wednesday. The scene was so shocking and ridiculous that even she seemed embarrassed of what she was doing.

She finally took a ticket off one upset woman’s van, but that was not until she spotted our cameras.

Neighbors say this whole scene reflects why they are so frustrated because while they are constantly giving to the city of Detroit, citizens like them are getting nothing in return.

Are you fucking serious? There were approximately 85 fires that day. The DFD cannot be blamed, they are understaffed and nobody could have anticipated that kind of outbreak....

...but after you just lost your house and your garage and probably everything else to a fire... a FUCKING METER MAID comes by and writes you a parking ticket for parking in the street? I swear, that would have pushed me over the edge.

Seriously... she should be fired. You must not have a brain in your head or a heart and soul in your body to think it's a good idea to write parking tickets to these people.

Yeah I saw that on the news last night. After channel 4 started filming her writing tickets, she took them back off the cars and dipped out reeeeaaaaaal quick. :lol:

I got a ticket in front of fire hq's one day bringing my injured buddy down town, with my flashers on & union FF license plate. I literally helped him into the door & came back to find a ticket. The cops told me they ticket marked police cars!

AND as far as Detroit tickets go...I put money in a meter, for 21 minutes... ran into the store, came out with 4 minutes left and there was a ticket on my car. I looked around....nobody in site. I was fucking ready to go balistic. It was on Washington Ave.

Talking about how the city is laying the blame on you guys, and the residents not taking responsibility for voting these crooks in office time after time. How people are calling 911/EMS and making them treat them as if they are doctors because they don't have health insurance and how you guys can't get EMS back up half the time because they're not available. Drew and Mike were pretty much bitching about Detroit laying the blame on the firefighters when it's obviously not your fault.
