Did anyone make a thread about the Buff Whelan Chevy dealership fire?

Wow, that's insane. Poor janitor dude working all alone. He called 911 right away but wow that fire spread.
 
It's nuts. I feel bad for the dealer and the customers. A friend of mine had his WS6 parked out back, luckily he didn't lose it.
 
Its crazy how fast that spread. I am wondering what will come of that video. That fuel tank wasn't ok to store there. The janitor knocked it over and the 911 call was tough to listen to. He kept over explaining himself.

One article that I read said that they were helping the techs find temporary work at other shops currently.
 
I also feel bad for the tech who had who knows how many 10's of thousands of dollars into. Shitty situation all around.
 
The dude is clearly a moron. The fuel was damn near pouring out of it when he stood the can upright and he runs the floor cleaner right over it. An "accident" that was completely avoidable. "hey I just knocked over a container with fuel in it, I'm just going to pretend it never happened." :shake:
 
From the video the fumes form the container had already made their way into the floor drains. You cannot store a open container of gas indoors. Period.
If gas is stored indoors in a commercial building, it must be in a saftey can (type that cannot spill when knocked over and automatically closes) and it must be stored in a cabinet designed to store it.

I have not seen the video of the accident,
but it sounds like OHSA is going to have a field
day with those folks.....not to mention insurance.
 
Looks like a Fuel Tank out of a customer's car.....He knocked the fkn thing over and spilled the fuel....What a fkn moron....

Buff's insurance might fork out all upfront costs in order to bring them fully back in service, then begin the processes to recoup what they need from the contracted facility maintenance company.
 
Yeah thats not good. What does OSHA say about leaving cars on lifts? With Cars under them? We have to lower to lowest lock anytime the vehicle is unattended.
We have a cabinet and also a fuel Caddy
 
Wow, this is just fucked all the way around. I assumed the maintenance company would be liable for everything (assuming they weren't illegals working under the table) but I never considered the contributory negligence or that fuel couldn't be in a garage (who knew) or even that the techs tools wouldn't be covered. What a mess.

But everything that happened after that was exponentially more ridiculous. The dude knocks it over. Drops some fuel
... Like 5 gallons then drives over it and roasts a whole building.
