Diamond Piston mods...

While trying to mock assemble my shortblock today I found my valvepockets are too deep into the pin area and I cannot 'thread' the pin into the piston/rod...Follow me so far? The rod hits the piston before the .990" holes line-up! SOAB! LOL. I need to slightly remove material from the bottom of the piston and/or remove material from the rod. My question(s); How much material is adequate on the top of the piston pin end of the '396' BME alloy rod? (I have .300" now.) What is a safe amount of material to LEAVE the piston with if I only trim the bottom of the valvepockets instead? Last, how much clearence should I have between the rod top and piston bottom. If this helps: 530 gram bare piston, .125" wall T/S pin, 8,000 RPM? Thanks in advance! I still have my job card from Diamond.

I've been around the block, have other credentials. Would you approve if you knew who I was...I don't care. What is your contribution to this post? Go play somewher else Junior.

LOL someone got owned. I've known Hardcore for years he knows his stuff and likes to help out other. He is like Sean from C.A.R.S

Welcome aboard Sean!

Thanks Mike. I guess I've been doing some light lurking too long. In the past, by the time I get to posts, I see Sean '#2' has already answered. He takes my answer...All I could contribute is 'I agree'

I want to report back that Diamond fixxed the problem for me directly. I did not have to utilize the original builder/orderer. Gibbey was courteous, accomodating, generous... I could go on but, I'll sum that because of this great customer service and product I will be a repeat customer. Thanks to all.

It's great to see the problem got corrected. That piston and rod don't look like they would go well in a grocery getter. Unless of course you like to get where your going realllly fast.

Why is this your first post and you joined 5 years ago? :)

I think HardcoreB is just trying to boost his post count...............OK I can't believe I just said that.
