Detroit photos

Sometimes I wish I was older so I could have seen Detroit (or any of Michigan) in it's heyday. You see stuff like that all over, even in south Warren, and I think to myself "What was this like when things were in full swing?" I bet it was awesome.

Detroit was I believe the 4th most populated city at 1.8 million. Compare that to today, we are below 900,000. Great place, bustling city, jobs for everyone. I am thankful the city spent alot of money building nice & durable firehouses when they did.

Sad to see those houses in that condition. They were apart of a great community at one time and beautful. now they are just ghosts of detroits heyday.

Ive always wanted to make a video of detroit in "before and after" format. Of anything in the city. Driving down a street for example in 1940 showcasing all the bright well-kept stylish houses, and then driving down the same street again in 2009 when its all burnt to a crisp and halfway returned to nature. Same for buildings like the MCS and the ford plant. Footage of cars going down the line, and fade into a shot of the same room, same spot, but everything an abandoned dump. It might get some attention.

The problem is finding old footage, since i doubt much exists.

I hope i live long enough to see the day detroit comes back. Im pretty sure it will, the question is if it will be anytime in the next 50-100 years or so.

With the exception of social problems, id say standard of living hit its peak and has been on the downside for a while. People will argue all the medical advancements we have today, that just makes us miserable.
