desperately in need of help (please read) rear end - car hauling help.

so i went to pick up the 1997 Z28 i spoke of on here the other day from chicago, looked it over for leaks and what not seemed pretty decent although the seller Dan kick made mention of having to "replace" the seal on the rear end, so i disregarded the grease splash's near its housing, took it for a test drive and all appeared to be well, again disregarding the splash marks near the rear end, because it was "fixed" and atleast appeared to be spot on in my 25 minute inspection.

purchased the car for $5000.00 and filled it up with the last of my money and headed home, during the inspection i noticed a little bit of splash on the T-56, which i assumed was from the new clutch install and didnt appear to be a leak and Dan assured me this car could "make it", so all seemed tight and well maintained.

about 30 minutes into the ride i noticed a gear lube smell ommiting from the shifter area, the boot was tore and it was wrote off as the gear oil from the clutch install, trans pull.

about 10 minutes later i pulled over and looked the car over to be safe, although the seller assured me the representation of the car was accurate. the splash's didnt appear to worsen, just looked like residule from the past repairs.

continued driving, about 125 miles into the return trip, i hear a slight whine, and at the same time my driving companion says he has to pee, so i pull over accordingly at the next exit and he does his business, im still smelling this, so i start to look for leaks under the motor, nothing.. but the smell is persistant. so i look at the rear end.. and long and behold, this thing is pissing gear oil all over.. the front bearing seal is SHOT, i start the car, just to check for noise's, toss in in first and give it a little feather on the clutch.. and it starts banging.. and resisting...

i get it to the most conveinant parking spot and call the seller, 13 times with no response, now as im sure you can all assume i was pissed off, i had just laid 5000.00 cash on a car in what i feel is false pretense's, not even 2 hours after i bought the car she is imobilized.

i call my wife to pick me up, 100 miles from home, during said time i look over the rear end more and more, in utter awe, the bearing looks to have been shot for some time, looks like hooking damage from maybe a track run, who knows, maybe it was just a cascade effect from the previous issue. regardless i feel it wasnt completely represented.

about an hour later, and 3 firm voicemails later i receive a call from the seller, whom at this point i will give the benefit of the doubt he will do the right thing, and was being 98% truthful about his thoughts on this cars driveability.

in this conversation i ask "so what are we gonna do here, i would like to keep the car, but feel there needs to be some sort of reimburstment in order for me to do so"

his response "It drove just fine, i dont feel obligated to assist", I gave the obvious response "there is a lemon law, im willing to work with you on this and do a 50-50 split", "But it ran just fine for me, i didnt know anything was wrong."

Me: "dude i just bought the car 2 hours ago, this is so a cause for Lemon law its not funny, just help me out and we will get this going"

Seller: "But i already came down in price.. I dont think i can"

Etc etc, you can imagine where this is going, but eventually he says in more or less terms he is willing to help "A little" and has no intentions of making a refund unless i persue legal action, which i would prefer not to do as i like the car.

I will with hold the remainder of his info until i see his true intentions, but now to this "Help".

Im not one to ask a stranger for help, but in this situation i have no choice. I sold my Silverado "towing truck" to get this automobile, and my dolley is for front mounting only, which will shatter this rear end, not to mention i have nothing to pull it with.

I direly need assistance from someone with a Pick up truck and a trailor that will work for this application, and i need help soon, as the car is not plated and illegally parked. I need it to be towed from Exit 76 on West bound I94 to Mount clemens michigan, i can afford the fuel, but would need to barter a payment as all i have is currently wrapped up into this car.. I can offer a payment in two paydays for services rendered, i just cant afford the $500.00 the towing companys quoted me at.

In addition if anyone has a 1993-1997 Camaro Z28 rear end in good condition for sale at a moderate price, i really need one of those as well. Please any offers PM / Call / Or email me, i will be forever greatful and am extremely handy if ever needed.

I appreciate you taking the time to read, im seriously starting to see F-bodys as my "Elanor", every time i get one its a ratty peice of **** or a money pit..

which one will this one be...

thanks again.

Sorry to hear about your situation.... however, this has nothing to do with "Lemon Law"

Unfortunately, you bought a used car "as is" with no warranty given or implied. The seller has ZERO obligation to help you out.

A few months back I sold my 98 Ranger to a friend and a MONTH later the motor blew. I split the cost of a new (used) motor with my friend because, well, we're friends and I felt bad. As some of you know, I had a few problems with that Ranger and THOUGHT that I had it fixed, but apparently didn't. So, because of that, and because he's a friend, we agreed to 50/50 in that instance.

But a total stranger? my answer would be: "Sorry 'bout your luck"

I have a F250 that will tow a house 'off it's fucking foundation' and i'm free tonight. I'll do it for gas money, but i don't have a FUCKING HITCH OR A TRAILER.

exit 76 off of 94 is K-zoo, thats only 4 hours round trip

I wasn't really planning on letting my trailer be borrowed after the last few times people used it and scewed things up with it, but if it helps you can use mine to get the car home.
