My desktop won't fire up. You push or hold the button and get nothing...I replaced the battery and nothing. What else? It is a HP

What does it do? Does the computer start up. Do you at least get the 'Windows' screen or do you get a flashing curser? What does it do?

If it does nothing, I would bet its the power supply. If you get "some" action (lights, fans, etc), could be a number of things. Sometimes a loose or un-seated memory stick will create a similar problem.

Never hurts to take it all apart and put it back together.

There should be a sort of flip switch on the back of the tower on the power supply itself. Try turning it off and unplug the tower. After about 5 minutes plug it back in and flip the switch on then try pressing the power button. Sometimes that works sometimes not. If nothing happens it's most likely the power supply. If it does turn on but this happens again then it's time to look into a new power supply.
