dentist/orthodontist recommendation for my daughter.

I'm going to keep this short.

My daughter is 16 soon to be 17. When she was around 10 or so, we took her to dentist, and they found that one of her upper front teeth, there was her baby tooth, and 2 additional teeth in the same spot. The dentist at the time, pulled her baby tooth, and one of the two additional teeth. It has taken a very long time for third tooth to fully come in. The problem is, it came in very forward of the rest of her upper row of teeth.

We have recently started the process of having this looked at. I'm of the opinion that braces is not the right option, as stated this tooth did not come in correct. Its sticks out 30* from her other teeth and already poses issues when tries to eat certain things like apples. She also has to be careful at times to not cut/hurt her upper lip.

This week my wife took her to an office and the dentist and ortho will only offer braces, and suggested that 6+ years would be required and there's a 25% chance that it wont even work. Again, I believe that chance is much greater than that. They just want to cash in on my daughters misfortune.

I truly don't feel she was offered a fair option.

Can anyone recommend a place that might not be all about the money?

Thanks!
Dennis

and for a referral, i saw dr bruce smoler in westland. his office staff is the best i ever encountered and he is very experienced and very good at what he does.

pull the tooth and put in an implant. roughly 2-3k for implant, post and crown.

X2, I chipped a tooth and its a little rough on the side of my tongue, this the route I plan to go. Im scared it will hurt like a mofo when they do it lol.

at no point do you feel pain. during or after the procedure. It's a piece of cake. The way my doc did it anyway. i have heard horror stories, which is why you want a great doctor to do it.

I know a thing or two about restorative surgery in the mouth area. I'm still going through it.

That said, I used Dr David Banda at Cranbrook http://www.cranbrookdentalcare.com/ He's a great guy. Down to earth, very easy to talk to, and has surgeons on staff that he regularly consults with and refers to . I'd recommend sitting down with him in a consultation and see what he says.
