just trying to mix things up a bit.

i DD a 1987 BMW 325is, and if you ask me, it's high on the list of greatest cars ever made. when you consider the fact that over 2 million E30 3 series cars were made world wide, and that the E30 chassis M3 is THE most winning car in racing history, it can't be that bad. it's my 2nd one, and i hope to have another, cleaner example someday.

the car currently has 154k on it, it's a 2.5 inline 6, 5 speed manual. LSD, sport seats, 3 spoke steering wheel are all from the factory. with snow tires and 50/50 weight distribution, i pray for snow on a daily basis.

I wash it every time i change the oil. so twice in the last 21k miles. lol.

and yes, i roll snow tires year round. i can never wait long enough for the snow to roll around.

lost the passenger side fog light last year in a snow covered parking lot. plowed through about 14" of snow doing about 40mph. zipties are a close friend. they're what holds the front valence on the car.

i would say that the seats rival any newer sports car in terms of support/comfort. i didnt pay much for them either, as the interior was nasty old tan when i got it.

aside from that, i roll a Thule rack with a cheap basket in the summer months.

i have some recaro seats i may toss into it eventually. but i plan on lowering it a few inches and running some 16x9's all around. currently it has fresh control arms, tie rods, urethane CAB's, brembo blanks, axxis ultimates, ATE blue, SS brake lines, etc. i have a pile of parts waiting to go on it when it goes real low. picture nice, WIDE wheels, shitty looking car, OEM BMW mudflaps scraping on the ground. i wouldnt hesitate hopping in it right now and driving to mexico. it will do anything i ask, and it handles decently well.

i know it's pretty "out of the ordinary" around here, but as ugly as it is, i think its a gem.

before i end this post, i'd just like to point out some of the "features" that many modern cars don't even come equipped with. the on board computer does a lot of shit. for example:

mpg.jpg

22644_237067392413_500292413_3712594_5368825_n.jpg

avg mpg, avg speed, temp, date/time, litres left in the tank, etc. theres even an option to set a code so that valet guys cant destroy your shit.

i just thought i'd share something a little bit different. the car is an utter blast overall. its not super fast, it doesnt handle the best, but it's an overall package. i've driven MANY cars, but this one is more fun than any of them.

You and your fucking BMW!

All kidding aside it is a badass car that takes a lot of abuse, and keeps on going. Can't argue with that!

Nice ride...May I suggest Johnsons car wash.

you can, but you're wasting your breath. :)

I had a '84 in high school

M10 or M20? (the 318's were slowww)

lol, ben. i think i had a couple too many pops last night if you know what i mean. i blame this thread on that..

Awesome. I've been thinking about selling my escort and picked up a used bmw. The maintenance stories scare me a little, but I know how to use a wrench. How bad can it be?

Dane, judging by the length of your post...I could tell you were both really bored and drunk.

Nice kah, but it wouldn't kill you to wash the damn thing. I know that's against everything you're going for with that car, but still.

little stupid shit. i replaced a trans in it, if you can do it yourself (and its not january and without a garage) its pretty cheap. i got a trans shipped to me from CT for $300. overall they're really cheap (E30) because there are so many of them, and so many people part them out. it's the newer ones that you cant work on yourself that are expensive. im not much of a mechanic myself, but i swapped a window motor and regulator in mine in about 30 minutes. the hardest part was getting the door panel back on. but in over 20k miles, i really haven't had any catastrophic failures. the trans turned out to be a bent shifter fork and i drove it to the guy that swapped it for me. its still on the original clutch. :) i want a 2nd one, but a plastic bumper vert. an Mtech vert would be nice!

i want new cars all the time, but if i could get rid of my 240sx, i would seriously be looking for a W124 300TE mercedes, or an E34 5 series.

a 540i 6 speed would be preferable, but i'd drive the 6 cylinder version.

theres a guy on bimmerforums with a nasty turbo'd E34. the E34 has a good rep for reliability as well, but used parts aren't as abundant as they are for the E30.

hey joe, FAH-Q. :finger:

I had a 1994 E32 740i in alpina blue. I loved driving it. but it fell apart after a while. I had the engine replaced under warranty at like 70k because it was burning tons of oil. Then the gauge cluster started performing the matric on its readouts. Ive got a wonderful E36 328is that I havent touched in about 6 months rusting in my driveway missing its rear bumper and trying to lose its front.

I love BMWs, but hate how they want to just kick parts off of themselves at like 100k

i've never had that issue. i am also a former E32 owner (cirrus blue 750IL). maybe it's because all of mine have been from the 80's? lol. but E36's are notorious for shoddy interior that likes to fall apart after a few years. E39's had weak cooling systems and dead pixels in the cluster, etc. like any car, they have quirks, but the overall package cant be beat, imo. after i finish college and land a real job, i plan on getting an E46 M3 to daily. but that could be a few years. lol.

i can switch my OBC to metric and Celsius, maybe you pressed something funny? :)

Sweet. Shine that beauty up, though. It's begging for it. When you say slammed with wide wheels, you don't mean the stretched tire VIP style, do you?

not VIP style, cause that shit usually looks stupid. but like on the white one a few posts up. a little stretch and poke. :)
