Cylinder walls

If the cylinder walls look like theres no damage to them, does that mean the rings are still good? :gr_confus

trying to figure out the oil burning issue. Im trying to see if good walls mean good rings. And what bad valve seals would look like if they were no good.

leakdown test

and because I know its coming:

as stated above, good walls dont mean the rings are good. There is no picture that will tell you if your stem seals are bad, youre going to have to test compression, perform a leakdown test, etc. to see if its the rings and go from there.

^Stem seals won't show up by leakdown or compression-they have nothing to do with it. You also can't visually see if seals are bad unless they're rotted or torn. When does the engine burn oil? all the time is likely bad valve guides or rings, hard to check without pulling it apart. Valve seals will cause a puff of blue on startup after sitting.

Dude I can understand wanting to do things for yourself!! but you have had a smoking, burning oil issue for a while now, You replaced a bent pushrod and some other things without checking the oil issue out till now. In the long run you would have been money ahead by having one of these great guy's on here check things out for you.. They have offered to look at things for you. Because from the sounds of it you will be rebuilding your engine soon.

The only time i see it smokes is when its under 2k rpms, after that then i dont see any smoke. IF it were rings, wouldnt it be more smoke with more throttle?

sometimes, not always.

do you notice that when sitting at idle it will begin to smoke or puff a cloud when you take off from a dead stop? if it does its likely valve seals. the problem may be deeper than just seals though too, it could be that the seals are failing due to faulty valve guides.

Im swapping the heads for some new ones. When im sitting at like a light or something, it will start to just come out.

That sounds like valve seals or guides. As for the leakdown test, that won't show if oil rings are bad-just compression rings, but it's a good idea regardless. Not trying to argue, just saying.
