Hi everyone,

My parents own Shelby Trim in Sterling Heights, on Mound between 17-18 Mile Roads, and this Saturday, they are having a car show called the "Cruise-In" which they've been doing for a couple of years now in conjunction with the United Street Machine Association. Here's the link on their site with the schedule: http://www.usmacarshows.com/USMA2007sched042007.htm

It's from 10-4 on this Saturday and GeosRide and I will be there for at least part of it. You can park along the side streets and in neighboring parking lots. I'll find out some specifics about parking today and post more about it later tonight.

Anyway, I thought it would be of interest to some of you here, hope to meet you next Saturday! :)

Your dad has a classic Red Dodge that sits out front?

He doesn't; he has the old Brit cars - a 1972 white MGB and a 1974 Mini Cooper that last I knew, was black, but it's changed over the years LOL. He also has a 2004 Mini Cooper S.

As cars get completed he'll park them in the front before customers pick them up, so I'm not sure if the red Dodge was one of those. Also I could be *totally* wrong and he could have picked one up without me knowing and I'll be finding out when I ask him LOL.

can we get a spot in the show?

http://www.usmacarshows.com/USMA2007sched050907.htm

Just spoke with my folks and as far as getting a spot, you can show up and register on-site, they don't think that there is a fee for registration but you can verify this with the show organizers at 248.280.0342. Apparently people do start showing up early, around 7-8:00 am so even though it doesn't start til 11 you might want to get there a bit earlier to register. (The website says 10-4, but the flyer that the USMA made up says 11-3 so I'm going by that.) Sorry I don't have more clarification on that, but my parents are just hosting the event, not organizing it. :)

There will be a burgers/hotdogs/soda stand for snackage, but there isn't a party store right next door or anything so you might want to bring a cooler with your beverages and snacks of choice. :)

As far as parking for spectators, there are a few options:
1) Patrico Construction is the first building north of Shelby Trim, you can park in their lot if it is not full.
2) There will be a roped off/flagged lot a few hundred yards North of Shelby Trim, just past Bill's Automotive
3) Side streets along Mound - park and walk over.

Finally the show organizers can be reached at 248.280.0342 if you have any more detailed questions, unfortunately these are all of the details I know at this time. Hope to meet some of you out there!

Cheers,

bump

So if anyone comes out tomorrow GeosRide and I will be spending at least part of the time behind the food table, so come and say hi if you stop by the show! :)

I might make the long haul out there. I havent really had a chance to enjoy the car since Sean straightened it out.

How's it going now?How many people are going there?Shall we meet at a spot first and go to the show as a group?

Did anyone end up coming out? Thank you if you did, the weather made for a low turnout this year which was a bummer, along with the last minute cancellation by our food vendor. We had 24 hours notice to become food vendors :pissed: and we did our best with sloppy joes, chips, and soda. Had to move the food tent indoors due to the wind, but all and all it was enjoyable. It was a busy day; after this show we had to be in Novi for a charity benefit organizational meeting and then it was off to Varsity Ford. But a fun day for sure!

Sorry if I missed you if you were there! Here's a link to the gallery of photos I took if anyone is interested in seeing what was there:
