Crazy semi engine

I jsut kept thinking to myself.... "Oh man, i hope that guys beard doesnt get caught in any of the belts!!!"
 
Looks like one of those unholy machinations they put on those monster tractor pull machines. Cool definitely, but a whole lotta lotta monies tied up in there....

Nope they were a factory item before turbos

I thought I heard that the original intent was to help evacuate exhaust. Or something along those lines but I heard that a long time ago and I could be full of it.
 
Pretty sure that's how blower sizes came to be what they are. 8-71 (detroit diesel) means 8 cylinders @ 71c.i.d./cylinder, so in turn that motor would get that size supercharger.
 
All the Det Diesel Truck engines till about 1982 were 2 strokes with blowers. They went all the way up to a V-12 with twin blowers. Real screamers
 
They also were turbocharged with blower..the older were N/a, Then blower, Then blower with turbos, All were turds anyway!.
