Crazy high used car prices

So this issue is universal... you can't get CPUs for your PC, GPUs for a Graphics cards or ECUs for cars. I think Goling just shared that their normal inventory across their 6 dealerships is 1200 cars... it's currently under 300 cars on the lot. You can't build cars that need an ECU if you can't buy them. Much like homes... It's a sellers market and used cars are king right now.

A dealer friend of mine said to me the other day,
"you could probably double your money on your
Mustang
" (got a great deal, only 25,000 miles on it).

I was just looking at cars for sale and there is one
very similar to mine for sale......@ twice my price!

Bet I could really make a killing selling the Ram...

I had posted my Mom's Durango on here back in January. See link below. At the time I posted it, the price was reasonable to the market and she was really only hoping to get $18,500 for it since it was RWD in Michigan. I also posted it on Facebook marketplace and all we got was lowballers and people that wanted us to finance them! Someone even offered $8K!! We didn't bother to respond to any of those, though honestly I am always tempted to ask if that type of offer actually ever works. She just told me to pull the ads in February and she would just trade it in when she ready to buy in April.

Once she got back I told her that prices had come way up in just that couple of months and that she should check Carvana. Sure enough, Carvana gave her $22,600! Someone could have had a pretty good deal only a couple months earlier. It still hasn't shown up on their website yet but I am curious what they will list it for.

carvanna has "killed" the used car market according to some dealer friends, they are just md because they cant make 5k on a used car now

I forgot to check yesterday but my Mom's Durango finally showed up on Carvana. Its already showing purchase pending at $26,590. :icon_surp

Rental car companies are also getting into the used car market because the new car market is so tight.

They actually dumped a lot of stock over the last year because travel was down so much and they couldn't carry the inventory. So anyone looking to travel that needs a rental car this year should keep an eye on the rates.

Some big travel destinations are going well over a $100/day for base car rentals. In some cases, it might be cheaper over all to land somewhere with cheaper rental cars and drive to your final destination. :(

That's better than I thought it would be. All things considered, they only stand to make a couple grand on the deal after all is said and done. They have about $4k wiggle room minus shipping the car, detail/prep, maintenance, adding it to the online inventory. I bet they only end up making $2k profit from all the work.

Been looking at '14/15/16 vipers - pre-covid they were floating around 80/90. Today you'll be lucky to find anything below 120. So, yea, wait it out.

I ordered my new F150 last month. It was built last week (in Kansas City).
Now it is sitting on a lot awaiting shipment. Presumably waiting for available super conductor's (chip shortage).
amazing how thin the new car lots are too now

Rumor is Ram has passed ford for best selling truck, Im hearing ford is going to throw huge amounts of cash on the hood of F150 to keep the title (oct-nov timeframe) could be some great deals if they can get stock
(
