Could you use the crank out of a late 90's/early 00's vortech or the crank out of a 4.8 or 5.3 and have it work with that trans and a 1987 Chevy 350 block?

late 90's truck through 2001 Van, as long as its the 5.7 vortech(non LSx) will work in a 86 up block

just need to 87+ flywheel to work with the 85 trans(85 flywheel won't work)

if you need more help, let me know

4.8/5.3 ar LSx generation or gen 3/4 engines. your would be reffering specifically to the gen1 SBC. those crankshafts would be from 1986-1999 5.0 and 5.7 Vortec Vin R/ and TBI 5.0/5.7 crankshafts.

Sean, I've seen the 5.7 vortec through 2001 in the Express vans as well

Yes they were offered in the Express vans till 2001. Problem is telling someone that they get the impression that every Gm truck has them. Only the vans got them and i do belive it was only one plant producing.

sounds about right, just wanted that out there, since I have gotten 2 engines out of 2000/2001 vans(vans were wrecked[one rolled, one rear ended], totaled) in the past couple years, both with under 30,000 miles on them, one was free, the other only cost me $300, both were complete, MAF to oil pan/starter, clutch fan to flexplate
