yesterday i went to get my block from chucks engine exchange in westland its a 350 sbc i got it bored 40 over and stroked to a 383 actualy a 385 but w/e, and i noticed at the bottom of the cylinder wall was cracked about a half an inch or a little smaller and i dont no if i should run it or not because i have a 6 inch rod 12.5:1 keith black hyperconetic pistons and im woried it will scratch or scar the piston skirt i wouldnt be woried with a 5.7 rod and stock stroke because i no it wouldnt go down that far but with the 383and 6 inch rod im not sure.I plan on takeing it to about 7200 rpms so if it doesnt scratch the piston skirt im worried at that high of a rpm and with 12.5:1 that cylinder will crack.

the messed up thing is i originally gave them a block that had nothing wrong with it wut so ever and i got it back it was fine till i was putting it together and discovered my rod bolt didnt clear because he didnt clearence it enough or right for that matter so i took it back and he was gunna do it for free then the idiot went thru to the waterjacket because he hogged it out so much the oilpan bolt was gone so then he said the blocks junk u have to pay for a new one $200 lol i was gunna hit the guy in the i thought he was kidding but he wasnt so i took my dad and as u guys no him DRACO my cousin up there and the guy said he would replace it all and do all the block work free of charge then i get this shit back so idk wut do u all think??????????????????????????????

i would go have a talk with chuck with ur dad and cousin again. haha. i was refered to him and had him do the work on my 460 (521 stroker) back when he was on mill street. that guy is a huge asshole. im a summing your a younger guy... i am too and he would barly give me the time of day. he fucked up your block and replaced it with another fucked up block. haha. if you are gunna spin that thing that high i would not even think about putting it together. not with that block. hell i would not put that thing together even if u werent gunna spin it high.

just to let everyone no its not like a crack its more of a chunk type thing like it doesnt look like it will affect the piston but once again idk why put it together after all this time for it to blow up

do you have pictures? even if it isnt a crack, more of a chunk it is still a perfect place to start to crack up the cyl. wall.

yah i no thats wut im sayin and rick the guy from chucks said he would sleeve it but i no wen u sleeve a motor the number five cylinder needs the be bored agin because it effects it somehow

i wouldnt use it .if it blows you could lose all your parts , with that said a new block WILL be cheaper in the long run .do you plan on spraying the motor

and johnyqwik i had a hard time to get the asshole to replace the my block he fucked up in the first place

i told him this the first timehe tried fucking me and he about shit himself so thats wut i might do

got pics tell me wut u think

 this is the chunk i was talking about u can see the end of the rod at the bottom

I know in something stock or mild i would run that all day long. I cant really say if it would cause you any problems. Since you brought him in a block without any blemishes and he fucked it up you should get something in the same shape free of charge, thats how it works at my shop

its really not a critcal area. as long as there is no sharp edge to drag on the skirt I dont think it should be a problem. Like i said if it were some stock engine i was building i would use it and not think twice.

Something that im spending a ton of money I would want it to be blemish free especially on engine thats a dime a douzen and everywhere.

Id go ahead and use it and find another shop to use of you dont like the work!

We had them align hone my blocks since weve always sent them out, notice the term had.....

lol well i think im just gunna have them put a sleeve in it and ill have to do some work down there of my own to make it blemish free thanks for the advice
