couple of questions

Sense my truck decided to have an intake manifold gasket failure, I am slowly trying to fix it. The motor is a 1995 gm 4.3 v6 in a s10. My first question is, what would be the easiest way to clean the gasket surfaces? The cylinder heads are cast iron and the intake manifold is aluminum. My second question is, what would be the best way to clean the bolts before I reuse them? Thanks.

gasket scraper for the heads and intake and a wire wheel, most likely on your everyday bench grinder or if you have a beadblaster that works good for the bolts

Yeah. Thats not a good Idea. The particulaate and abrasive gets into the oil and eats the bearings. Razor blades work best and thats the officials policy we have here. It takes a few more minutes but it prevents engine failures.

Personally i like using the scotchbrite Biscuits on a die grinder....works great...
