*** Coupe update ***

It has the Stage 2 friction material on the flywheel side and the stage III+ friction material on the pressure plate side. It simulates as full disc on one side and a paddle type on the other as well. The pressure plate is a lightened stamped steel housing with an aluminum pressure plate disc inside with a steel insert on the face. This is purely for a race application. There are a multitude of reasons for this clutch design but the lightened pressure plate offers the same benefits of an aluminum flywheel, so it should recover very quickly between shifts.

Ok, thanks. I had an aluminum flywheel in my car for a day, took it out that night.

The lightened flywheel and or pressure plate is not for every application. However, in certain applications an engine may need the extra rotational inertia generated by a steel flywheel. In my specific situation, the lightened flywheel will not hit the tires as hard and allow me to leave at an even higher RPM and help the engine recover much quicker between shifts. To explain the clutch a bit further, the less aggresive clutch material on the flywheel will allow the clutch to slip before grabbing, keeping the car further up rpm and resulting in greater average power used through the entire length of the quater-mile.

Sounds like a great combo Steve! Can't wait to see it out there again soon. It's always been a great looking car(not that I'm partial to red coupes...) Keep us posted when you're heading out! -Joe

Anthony,

whats up man??? Thanks for the heads up. But the upper half is not what I need. I have a buddy that is willing to "help" with the heads. I would still need an intake, but until I get the big inch windsor short block together, I don't want to start buying parts that may sit on the shelf for a while. However, when the time comes to build it, i'll have to make up my mind quickly inorder to the proper pistons made. We'll see. Until then, I can't wait to see if all the money I just spent was a complete waste.

Hey Joe, I should have the engine back together tomorrow night, and the whole power and drive train back in the car on Thursday. Should be time to fire it up on Friday. My new neighbors will love the sound of it over their little fire crackers!!

Haha!! Yeah, I just don't have it in me to go and spend that kind of money on an engine while with my luck I'll make it to only a few events because of work or other unforeseen circumstances. The worst part about it, is if something were to let go in that kind of motor, I wouldn't have the money to fix it, so it would sit for who knows how long. Maybe we'll try to make it out to Ubly for that day, when is it?
