With the rejection of the "Auto Bailout" we need to take a stand. I am asking everyone here to write your respective politicians. I am including a e-mail link to the Senator that was so hell-bent on stopping this.

Sen. Shelby from Alabama was the main opponent of this bill. He is a Senator that hails from a state that is home for Toyota, Honda, Mercedes and Hyundai. He fought for big tax breaks for these companies. I believe he should never have been on this panel because he has such a conflict of interest.

I would like everyone to write Sen. Shelby and express your displeasure with him and his decision. You can write him at:

Shelby isn't going to care about anyone that can't vote for him...writing him would just be a waste of time, really. Locally, however...I would definitely suggest writing/calling your state rep and senators.

As a general rule, congressmen don't give a crap about people outside of their constituency (well, other than those people who are sending them checks and themselves, of course)

The senator from tenn who was very vocal about this too, used to be a pitcher for the tigers will be in town this weekend charging 50.00 for his autograph perhaps a "face to face" meeting would work

Make your voice heard to Shelby. But do not turn your back on your fellow Americans. It will not help this situation.

Supporting such a boycott makes any person who does so, no better than Shelby himself. It's essentially the same thing he's doing. I think it does nothing but further divide this country. Boycotting a state is not a solution to this issue.

This is the end of democracy/republic and free market economy.

Fundamentally, I just cannot get behind and support government intervention in this matter. Same with the banks, the government should have let them folded.

I read that the uaw was refusing to make salary concessions. It's going to come down to whether you want a lower paying job or no job. My fear is the uaw will be too stubborn and the result will be no jobs.

Also, this is plot by the big 3 to keep as much pressure as possible on the uaw to force them to make concessions. Do you really think the big 3 corporate cares about the uaw's survival? With this much pressure, the employee's are going to turn on the UAW.


Instead of writing congressmen, how about writing your local union rep and tell them to negotiate with the government!
