Could only muster some 12.0x's best, 1st time out w/new set up. Father/Daughter day at Milan.

Well I finally got to make some passes at Milan this last Sunday. My daughter and I loaded up and headed down from our house where it was nice and sunny just to arrive to more precipitation at the track . It was a long wait for the weather to go through and be able to make some passes but well worth the wait even with the dismal results. But you can't go changing things up and expect a home-run 1st time at bat so I'm still pleased with the outcome. Just wish I could have squeezed in a couple more passes.

Over the course of the winter all I did was add weight to the car and switch to a much less forgiving BFG Drag Radial. There was nearly 100# just in the S&W 8 point that I installed, then the TeamZ relocated uppers, a new line lock, and an MSD w/2step. I'm not sure where the hell I'm going to find to loose anymore weight out of this thing without hacking it up but it appears that for it to match last years best ([email protected]) I'm not going to need to. Note, this is still the same old Explorer long block from last year, I wasn't able to finish my 308 (and glad as I would have been fighting more than just the rear suspension change).

Unfortunately by the time I was figuring out what the tires wanted and the track was really coming around it was time to leave. I was teased with a 12.002 @ 112.51 on the 2nd to last pass and on the last pass I was denied a return to the 11's due to staging WAY too damn deep. I rolled way too far into the beams and knew it was over before I even launched.

Starting with the 1st pass of 12.53, for the 1st 5 passes I consecutively got quicker all the way down to a 12.18 on the 5th pass. Then I slowed up a to a 12.24 when I blew the tires off so I dropped the 2step way down to 3600 which resulted in hook but a bad bog so it went 12.30. After that I raised the 2step back to 5k and went 12.18, 12.17, 12.05, 12.002, then like stated above, the last pass eff'd up staging ending with a 12.04 on a 5500 2 step setting. I have no doubts next time out I can make it work now that I've got some time figuring it out.

My best 60 ft was a 1.65 so I'm still a tenth off from where it was last fall on the non adjustable control arms and MT DR's. It's just a matter of getting it set up all over again.

Ok, enough babbling as I know you don't care, you just want the vids. On that note, my daughter did all the filming so it's not the smoothest taping in the world. I would show the initial 12.53 where I blew the tires off on a 6k launch but this was her 1st time filming me at the strip, she almost got the car in the video a couple times

This was the 1st time she came with me on her own and I hope it's a start to something great! A Dad can hope right? :icon_bigg

If these links don't work I'll have to fix them when I get home since I can't see them here.

Just need to tweak it. It'll come back around.

Thanks! I sure hope so. I'm expecting good things from all this chassis stiffening once I figure out what adjustments I need to make in the rear. The only time I played with the rear suspension was just to add another .5° negative pinion angle. It's hard to study the videos with the walls in the way but I can see it's popping up and abruptly coming down so I know I need to stiffen those front struts back up and possibly change out the d-side rear spring that worked well in the past but just may be too soft now. Really hard to say with only marginal passenger side shots though.
