Always thought that was a great body style. My dad had one new. They were fun to drive but very slow by today's standards. Back in the day I wanted to get one and put a 340 in it. Wonder how much boost they can handle?
I've seen a few 4G63 swaps. I originally thought these had early 4G63 engines in them, but I think I was wrong.Always thought that was a great body style. My dad had one new. not alot, a guy I know stuffed a Big Block chrysler in one
Stock boost is 9lbs. 15lbs is generally the top of the "safe" range.... the weak link at that point is the head gasket. With a copper gasket, I think 20lbs is pretty much the max. The intake on them is a limiting factor (TBI).
Mine was set at 15lbs and I'd say it was about a 14.0 car. Not really fast, but it handled so well. The automatics are dogs.
I really do want another one... but they are starting to get expensive. Hard to find one that checks all of the right boxes... has to be a 5-speed, has to be an 88-89 (interior improvements, bigger intercooler, SHP package which included wider wheels and adjustable shocks).
That car, and all the parts that guy owns is for sale btw.
so... who wants a gasser to go hang with Danny Dodge
