Confused/rant/this sucks....

So tomorrow is most likely going to be my last day at Saleen.

The thing is, yes I am a contract worker, and my employer said they "will" place me else where. The problem I see is that, when I got hired at the security company, they said I will be working specific days and hours and I told them this is the reason why I wanted the job. (I'll back track: at my last job, b4 I accepted my security position, I made a little bit better money, had health/life insurance, benefits, a 401K, none of which I have now, but I worked Sunday days, Monday and Tuesday afternoons, and Thursday and Friday midnights. Hence why I wanted a NORMAL work week and took the cut backs that I did.) Say they do place me some where else, I will most likely lose my Mon-Fri 8am-4pm, which will not work with what’s going on in my personal life right now. Right now Chris and I are sharing a vehicle... I drop him off, go to work, then after I get off work, I go pick him up. It's been working out just fine, since I live with him and all. If i get put on a different shift, this sharing a car thing won't work. I don't want to leave Chris in the dark on his employment, given the fact that he makes MUCH more money then I do. Yet again, I don't know what to do about my job position, because the money I make is paying my bills... and the little I have left over, I try to help Chris out, too.

Chris and I are trying to get another car right now, but given our financial situation as of right now, it's pretty impossible. All of you who do know me, know I've even been borrowing my dad's jeep, since I had to turn my lease jeep in. I have also been trying to find another job, because I kind of saw this whole thing coming for a few weeks now. I've applied but never heard back from these employers. This has also put a lot of stress on our relationship... I just don't know what to do and it sucks major ass!

I mean should I tell/remind my employer that why I accepted this job was because of the hours they offerd to me? Would it make a difference? I mean, I don't even know if they are going to really place me else where...? Gosh, this just fricken sucks... :icon_frow

Sorry to post a sob story... I know the economy sucks right now, and A LOT of people are going through a similar situation like mine, too. I'm just confused on this whole situation and don't know what to do!

That sucks. It probably won't make much of a difference because, as a contractor, you have to answer to two different bodies...the company you work for, and the company you work at. Unfortunately, when things get tough, the contractors are usually the first to go since the company you work at has little invested into you other than your paychecks. Definitely hope that things work out for you...keep your head up, and remember that things generally happen for a reason.

I would get a 2nd vehicle that is so cheap you don't need to worry about financing it. That way your work hours won't have to be so specific, which will make it a lot easier to find another job...

That sucks... If they are to place you else where why can't they find you the same shift? That an Cars CHEAPO right now if you don;t mind driving a beater... check out the CL or local paper theres all kinds of stuff.

Tina, I know exactly what you're going through and know the stresses that you are currently facing and the ones that will come around as well. You have a whole lot more confidence in your contract house than I ever did, so hopefully they are able to place you immediately into another position. The car thing I also understand. With credit tightening I had a hard time getting my car and I have good credit and a ton of income. The stress you're going through is somewhat outside your control. Try not to let it get between you and Chris. It's hard not to snap at the ones that are closest to us when our life takes a turn for the worst. Just remember that he loves you and you guys will both get through this. It might not be the best opportunity, but you're both intelligent, strong, and loving people. I have faith that you'll turn out ok, and I'll be praying for you both.

Sorry to hear this. I wouldn't say sorry about the sob story. Others have posted up too when they lost/almost lost their jobs.

I don't know if telling your employer why you accepted this job will work or not. It's nothing personal, it's just the industry. I might try it anyways, but don't just tell them why you accepted the job (reason being benefits) Tell them about your worth, what you have accomplished, remind them you're on time etc...make them need you.

Exactly what he said...

Sorry to hear that, but don't worry things always have a funny way of working out. Just keep your head up, and my thoughts are with you and Chris as well. Best of luck babe!

We are trying to find a beater/fix the mustang. My dad has a truck lined up for us right now... but money talks and bullshit walks. We'll see how that goes in a few weeks. But will my employer wait a few weeks until we can get this vehicle situation straightend out?

It depends on how Saleen feels about the situation. Ultimately, that's who pays for you to be there, and your employer has to answer to them.

If you explain to them the situation before hand I don't see why they wouldn't. Especially if you are a good asset to the company...it's hard to find good employees, and if I had a good one...I would help them out any way that I could.

Thanks everyone for being kind and understanding! You might not know it but it means the world to me! :D Thanks again!

What's wrong with the Mustang?
The trans... it's dead, and I think this is the 4th trans to break in it.

That's the problem, so and so owes so and so $$$$, there for putting me out of this job.

Also, Saleen, the security company I work for, and everyone who knows what I do/what I put up with, will agree that yes, I am a great worker. I do my job, and always help others out with whatever they have asked. I've always, some how, have managed to be good at what i do, school, sports, jobs... whatever! Don't ask how because I could not tell ya! I've just have never been in a situation like this before... and yes, it's hard/confusing/stressful! :faint:

Those damn T-45's and TR3650's are junk. I've had two in my 96 Cobra go bad, and I never miss gears, they just can't handle power. I also have a slight grind in 5th with the T45 in my other car.

They are like 1000 bucks and on October 1st, D and D performance raised their effing pricings 10-15% across the board.

What I ment in my original post is that... With my current employer, I do not have the benifits I used to have. I gave all the benifits up when I left my past employer to work at my current job, because I wanted a normal work week. Now with what is going on, I might have screwed myself, because of the fact that with supposidly being placed else where, I'm most likely not going to have a normal work week. Smooth move on my part, huh? :chairfall

Nobody's psychic...

Psycho...now that's a different story.

Sorry, I didn't mean benefits like health, 401k stuff, I meant benefits as in like you said about the hours, work week etc....I should have used different words, sorry.

In other words, don't let them know you took the job because it suited you better, let them know you took the job to help them, to show them your worth, skills etc....

I hope things work out for you.
