College Hoops 2015-16 Thread

The committee responsible for seeding this year should be shot. Quite a few 10+ seeds should have been ranked higher.

I don't disagree with you that the seeding was strange. I'm hoping you aren't making this an excuse for why MSU lost. On RCMB there's an entire thread about how the committee screwed MSU and caused them to lose because they weren't a 1 seed.

No, MSU lost for a number of reasons. I'm not convinced they came to play last week. The snubbing on Monmouth and several low seeds that came in with better records than U of M also strikes me as odd.

I think Michigan was one of the best 68 teams in the country. I think there is a lot more parity in college hoops than there was 20 years ago. I think they may have to open the Tourney to just about everyone. Screw the league Tourneys and start a week earlier. There are what...320 teams? First week would eliminate 240 teams. The second week would eliminate 60 more. Could you televise every game...Nope. The first four rounds played on the home court of the better team. You seed the top 24 or 16 teams and do the rest by RPI.

As for State, they got a favorable seed. In St Louis instead of North Carolina and in Chicago the next site. The just didn't play well.

I don't think you'll ever see that, but I do think they'll expand the play-in games to 8 or more soon. You're absolutely right about the parity in college hoops, and unfortunately, there just aren't enough spots. The flip side to expanding the NCAA tournament is the NIT will suffer. Then again, who really cares about the NIT?

Couple posts ago you were all cheering for Michigan to the NIT.

I'm glad you are so timely on this. That was 03/07...

The NCAA lets in a lot of teams that won their conference or at large that are not one of the best 68 teams. But then again, you think the regular season is important...

Spike Albrecht is heading to MSU pending the approval of the B1G. John Beilein pulled all restrictions on transferring to another school for Albrecht and Doyle. Doyle hasn't made up his mind. Albrecht said that playing for Izzo has always been his dream, but MSU didn't have any open scholarships 4 years ago. Go Green!

Happy April Fool's Day!

I had thought Spike's injury was career ending. What are the odds he makes it through a whole season without injury while playing for another team?

With Michigan's luck probably pretty good. He had 2 season ending injuries in one year. No scholarships available so had to let Spike walk.
