hmm, dunno, of course i would want to, but i may have a tag-along..
 
Take the Amtrack into dowtown terminal and get a cab. Best way to go, cheaper, more of an adventure, and you will be dropped off right in the heart of downtown.

I am doing the same thing over Christmas break with the kids for a weekend get away.
 
so are here are the choices.

james hotel is $400 a night
hilton dwntwn chicago is $300
house of blues is $299
hard rock is $340
wyndham is $340
W is $519

+ the %15.5 percent or whathave you..



any other suggestions or does anyone have opinions on the above?

Embassy Suites is right in the heart of Downtown. Walking distance to the Excaliubr as well as a ton of other "sights"
 
Avoid the Hilton. It's nice to go into to see the entry area, but the rooms are extremely small.

My wife and I stayed there for our 10th anniversary.
They have a bar in the lobby and a nightclub and mortons steakhouse next door.
At night the whole ground floor lobby was packed with people partying.
We got one of the Tower suite rooms, I think it was like 800sq foot with a 42inch plasma TV, DVD player, mini bar, Sound system and a shower that would fit you and 4 of your closest friends.

all the hardrock has available is the deluxe room which is $400 at 350 square ft.

house of blues has 700 sq ft at $454

the omni has 400 sq ft at $450

i hate that i can't find exact pictures of what these rooms look like..
 
just not sure i like the funky decor of the hob. it's over twice the size of everything else though for the same price.

i can't find the embassy either that you were talking about?

so it's hob, hard rock, wyndham or omni at this point.
