I can't remember what year it is, pretty sure late 60's. A guy I work with drew up the dimensions and made the bosses, I cut and bent the aluminum and did the welding. It's not done, he made a pretty cool filler cap that I need to cut a hole for and weld on. It's not polished up yet, but it looks pretty cool:

What do you use to clean it? What kind of aluminum are you welding?

Verry nice!do u do valve covers???PONTIAC????
I really haven't done a heck of a lot of aluminum fab work, most of it has been maintenance/repair. I could do the welding and cut the pieces, but right now I don't have a mill to do the face.

good work

Thanks man.

VERY NICE JOB....looks very professional. Iam sure once it is polished it till look even better.

Thanks guys!

I get that a lot from guys at work who are used to seeing things cobbled together. I did something for a guy once and he said "man, that looks like it was store bought." So now I joke around that that's what I strive for, to make things that looks store bought:)

I added the filler cap today, that wasn't so much fun. Over half inch wall(something like 3" od roundstock with a 2" hole bored into it, about 2" tall)to under 1/8th inch sheet aluminum. But it turned out alright.
