Check Engine Light?

2005 Grand Cherokee, 4.7L V8 engine, 56k miles.

Check engine light is on and "perform service" is on. Lights have been on almost 2 weeks. Runs fine except has stalled once during this time.

Local shop ran codes and said it was:

EGR System Performance Electrical

Any idea what this could be?

Cycle the ignition key On - Off - On - Off – On waiting for the odo to show up each time

then read the P code from the ODO
the service light is reset in your info center

Probably.. the egr valve has a solenoid controlling vacuum to the actuator. I am going to say that the solenoid is either shorted or open..

I need to check it out. I recently hit a deer with this jeep and the front end was extensively damaged. The light came on about a little while after getting it back, I wonder if they left something unplugged or cracked.
